Carpet or hardwood floor?
I love hardwood floors but unfortunately carpet sounds a lot better. I've tried rugs but a fully carpeted room just sounds better in my opinion. You get significantly more floor refections with a rug and hardwood floors.
Hi-Fi wanna-be needing advice on an Amp purchase
I'd buy a used Aragon 8002. Great amp and a true bargain. I feel it actually better than it's highly regared big brother the 8008.
Is $18,000 enough for a high end HT?
You can if you buy carefully and buy used. You can save a lot especially with amps which are easy to find used.
Chair or Sofa? Which do you use?
Sofas don't allow you to recline. You are always forced to be upright even with your feet up. Sometimes I like to lay back in a darkend room and relax to music. You have to lay side-ways with a sofa and one ear is always down. I chose recliners fr...
Theta Dreadnaught vs. Earthquake Cinenova?
There's one selling here now for 3400.00. They sold new for 7500. Extremely quiet and powerful. 500 watts time 5. The best part is that the amp does not run nearly as hot as conventional amps. It has s digital switching power supply. Extremely det...
Psb Platinum speakers
The Mcintosh speakers retail for 7k, but check the demo and used market and you can get a discount. All of the speakers that I've found to be better than the PSB cost at least twice as much. PSB Golds are extremely competative. Anyone looking to u...
Psb Platinum speakers
I switched from PSB golds to Mcintosh LS-360's. If you like the relaxed sound of the gold, you will find it in the Mcintosh speakers. However, the Mcintosh's are far far more detailed. Bass is also much better. With the golds, you can't really hea...
Paradigm Reference Studio vs. B&W N804
The Paradigm is an awesome speaker. I've heard both in the same room with same electronics. Of course it has more bass but also appeared to have a much better off axis sound. The N804 has pinpoint images. The Paradigm threw a less focused soundsta...
Speaker placement with big screen in the middle
Your speakers need to be forward of the big screen to avoid reflection though at the distance you have them spaced apart this may not be a problem. With most speakers, such a far spacing kills the soundstage. I'd try moving them close together and...
Psb Platinum speakers
There should be at dealers in March. I'll go and listen then.
Unsettled and considering changing stuff
How about an SACD player and a couple or Rolling Stones albums? I think that wil cure you ills. I see that you have an extremely nice turntable but just try it anyway.
Bryston 7B SST vs. Parasound Halo JC 1 shootout...
Have you seen the revie of the JC-1 in Stereophile. It's a rave review.
In-Wall Speakers
I purchased Mcintosh in-wall and then had a housing built so that I could wall mount them. I saved 1000 dollars by doing this rather than buying a similar model with the same drivers.
Cal-Audio icon power boss computer interface

Anyone audition/own the new McIntosh speakers?
I recieved my Mcintosh WS-350 speakers the other day. The first thing I noticed was the build quality. I had no idea that Mcintosh built to such a high standard. The in-wall speakers have to be assembled so you can see the internals of the speaker...
