7.1 HT proc/amp for B&W Matrix 803x2,805x3, DS6x2? Bryston SP 2.0 or 1.7 and two amps, Adcom 7805 and a two channel one. 7 channel amps are expensive and heavy. I know you do not want to got that route but if you have a 12 volt trigger it is going to be just as easy to operate as one amp would be....
How far have things come regardingSS electronics? Yes solid state has greatly improved especially in the last five years with SACD and DVD-A requiring better electronics.
Acoustical Solutions or Auralex LENRD bass traps I would use Acoustical Solutions assuming I could get fiberglass panels instead of the foam Auralex uses. Foam absorbs the highs but does not do as well with the rest of the frequency spectrum. I think rigid fiberglass has better specs for room tr...
Toshiba HD DVD player as Transport It is such a hassle to use. Loading and unloading is extremely slow. Much lower than my PC. It does a fine as a transport as far as sound quality. Just add a lot of time to the equation each time you want to switch CD's. Usually I am not one to co...
Soundproofing Doors at Home Depot The exterior door with seals all the way around it the way to go. No offense but I do not believe some of you have any experience with sound reduction. Drapes would to nothing for something like this. To block sound, you have to stop air transmiss...
McIntosh SS Amps - Old vs New - Sonics Actually I have won a few prizes for precise prose and have taught College English. Internet reviews are supposed to be informal. That is my impression.
Sound traps/acoustic panels to improve the sound RPG Skyline really helped my speakers sound more extended in the highs. I swear by them. Absorption can be tricky and have the undisired effect of sucking all of the highs out. Only complaint with Skylines is that too many can make the speaker sou...
McIntosh SS Amps - Old vs New - Sonics Here's a review that I wrote on another site of the MC402: This was the second Mcintosh amplifier that I have purchased. The other being the MC252. Compared to the other amps that I have owned, this amp has a very natural presentation. What I mean...
REL Product Lines You must be looking at the Rel website. Sumiko is the company marketing the Rel Britannia series. You will not see it on the Rel page but on the Sumiko page. I do not believe the Britannia has been discontinued.
Power Conditioner to replace my Monster 3600 Buy some PS audio stuff.
Is HDMI better than Component for Directv and HD? HDMI cable is clearly better with my 50 inch Sony SXRD. The picture has more detail and is more three dimensional. My wife noticed as soon as I switch cables. Now, it is not a night and day difference but it is easy to see in my case.
Terminating speaker wire? Yes, it's very straight forward. The silver coating is going to take a lot more than a soldier iron to remove so that's should not be a concern.
Where are you from this Christmas.. Enjoying a nice birtday, 40.
Humming sound from my speakers Sounds like ground loop hum. Try using a cheater plug to lift the ground on the three prong plug or use a device designed especially to eliminate ground loops. I'd try the plug first to see it that's the problem.
Comparison of B&W N802 vs. 803D The new tweeter makes all of the difference in the world. I spent several hours with the N803D and what is produced was just music with no fatigue. I find the tweeter on the older series fine at first but it begins to wear on you after awhile. I'm... |
