Great CDP with No volume control
I use the Opus 21 with a preamp and it's great. It bests my Electrocompaniet EMC-1 so the volume control obviously isn't getting in the way.
How good is the Resolution Opus CDP?
I've compared it to the Electrocompaniet EMC-1 Up. I have both; the Opus 21 is in a headphone system; the EMC-1 is in my main system. I've compared the Opus 21 in my main system and here's a summary of my thought...The Opus 21 is more "organic" th...
need suggestion on headphone amp for gradosr325
Also check out the Grace 901, but it's pricey ($1500). The Emmline H2 is also well respected. Neither one is tubes.
Audience cable opinion, anyone? Au24, Maestro....
I use Audience Au24 interconnects and speaker cables almost exclusively in my systems. The only exceptions are the use of the Maestro speaker cables in my office system and another brand of interconnect when i need a really flexible cable. To me, ...
Living Voice Auditorium spkrs comments requested
If you're in the US or Canada, check with the North American distributor (Bluebird Music?). They'll be happy to send you info and copies of reviews that will help you understand the differences between the speakers.
SACD/Redbook one-box solution?
I finally gave up and purchased a dedicated redbook player. I had a Marantz SA-14 SACD player and the redbook was good, but not great. I wanted great. I now have an Opus 21. You have to spend some bucks to get great playback in both formats. The m...
Most "Non-Digital" Sounding CDP
I have a new Resolution Audio Opus 21 and the word that immediately comes to mind when listening to this player is "non-digital". It is smooth and natural sounding. Instruments sound like they should, there's nice decay, and it captures the ambian...
Best one box CDP, Got it short listed to Four
I love the EMC-1 and have one. Plus I just purchased a Resolution Audio Opus 21 CD player to replace a Marantz SA-14 SACD player, which wasn't all that great on redbook. The Opus 21 is a very dynamic CD player and should be great with rock and pop...
Do I need a DAC for my Marantz SA14
Not necessarily upsampling, but you can improve on the SA-14 redbook. Yesterday I hooked up my headphone amp, which is normally connected to my Marantz SA-14, to my EMC-1 and the difference was dramatic. The EMC-1 was far better. You might check i...
Any Good SACD Player Plays CD Well
I think the first ones are being delivered in June. Apparently, that group has already sold out so I suppose they are going to have another production run towards the end of the year. Meitner is primarily a pro audio manufacturer and I get the imp...
Comments on the McIntosh MA6900 integrated amp
There's been lots of commentary here about the MA6900. In summary, nearly everyone who has discussed it loves it. Lots of power with great, smooth, warmish sound. I used to have it then upgraded to Mcintosh separates. It should mate well with your...
Coping in an Age of Uncertainty
I think you're right on. We seem to be in a time of change when more universal players are coming out and SACD seems to be getting a solid hold on to the market (of course, others will disagree with this observation). But like you, I'm holding out...
Are any e-zines covering the Stereophile show????
Try this:Enjoy the Music coverageThe show wasn't really that interesting, but I'm glad I went. It was my first 'home entertainment" show and it was good to see/hear some components I have never had a chance too. It confirmed that I still prefer tu...
Any Good SACD Player Plays CD Well
Perhaps Meitner would like to license out their technology to other manufacturers who could build a one box player???
Todays Raido Stations suck
Most stations do suck today. Too many ads and yes, the same songs over and over and over, and yes, there are better songs on those albums. Today's stations are geared toward pigeon-holing listeners into neat demographics for selling commercials. H...
