Real Music vs Audiophile Mumbo Jumbo
Agree with posts so far. No way is a Rock Concert 'live' (sound wise) PA system and very high dBs. I go to 'live' concerts for the social networking, not the music, which is pretty bad considering most concert producers do not know how to properly...
Please help diagnose/fix CD problem
Time to dump, and use the opportunity to buy a Sony refurb 595 for $60 from SonyStyle.
Tips for buying used Vinyl needed
Assume your ability to get a 'clean' disc is 10:1, so pay on the assumption.
Amp and Pre-amp recommendation
Take a look at used Cayin/VAS components. They are great sounding and a great value. I've been very happy with my experience with their components.
Ordering cartridge from overseas
Many times it works, especially for a small item. However, often the exchange rates and bank transactions fees do not offer any significant savings. For years I have purchased items UK manufactured from the UK. Presently the exchange rate is not t...
Vibration control devices for EMM CDSA.
Time to try 'moon gel'. Available in most musical instrument stores. They are used by drummers to deaden transmission. At six dollar for four pads, you can't go wrong, especially since they are returnable.
Proac D38

warm sounding amp suggestions???????
Of course, it must be tubes, all the way. Look into Cayin/VAS, great sound, value.
What you drink while listening sessions?
Johnny Black is the only way to go.
Sony SCD-XA5004ES vs Marantz SA11S2
Go with Sony. Better service and reliability. Also, Marantz is sourcing many of it s chips directly from Sony.
Help with new system
Please look into the Cayin/VAS line. The US distributor, Steve, is good friend of Harry's and they recommend each others equipment. They are local to each other so it is easy for them to 'listen'. I have a few Cayin and VAS pieces and marry it wit...
"American Sound" Speakers
Horns are the American sound. Just as Tannoy was British, JBL and Klipsch are American. Seldom do you find any horns in English households.
Do you listen alone or with guest s
To really listen, you need to listen alone. It is all about focus, focus on the music. Socializing is best done without music or the TV going. That way your guests get the attention they deserve and the conversation flows best. Often people ask to...
Proac D38R
I have heard the ribbon in the D38 and was very disappointed. It was not the ProAc sound.b
The British Sound
Part of this is due to the fact that British ears are voiced differently then other cultures. Many years ago an excellent article appeared in FI magazine that covered the issue in great detail. So, yes there is a British sound, tuned to British ears.
