A simple Request to Sellers-
In selling and buying, I've had the best experience when 'pick up for cash' governs the transaction. The buyer gets to see the equipment and listen to it, any issues are addressed first hand, and in any follow on, we know who we are talking to. Ye...
Tube Pre-Amp Recommendation
Look into the Cayin/VAS Citation I, an updating of the original HK Citation I. I've enjoyed it for over three years now and can highly recommend it, especially for vinyl. Great sound, great value.
Does vinyl have a sound?
I think a better question would be 'does analogue have a sound.' My answer would be yes. Skipping over some of the comments made on vinyl, and its limits as a media for carrying sound, I have many analogue reel to reel, two track tapes, and many v...
Wheels under tube amps?
Check out wheeled plant stands at HomeDepot, I think they may be suitable for your use. I use one under my tube amp.

I have tons of stuff you could pick up in New Jersey, free.

Quick go to Toys-R-Us. They have many 'cheapo' record players Be sure to put the receipt in the box so the person will know where to return it.
ideas for purchase, please
Look for a used pair of ProAc 1SC's. Easy to buy and sell, especially if the sound does not really appeal to your ears.
SACD vs Analog
Analog, properly implemented, will bring a whole new dimension to your listening. I have many SACD's but they are no match for their analog equivalents. I think a good staring point, if you like jazz is Miles Blue. I have 'Blue' in every media for...
Building a house with dedicated stereo room-advice
As you already know, this is a major expense, not an investment. Seek professional help so the out come will be optional. Consider using someone who is a trained acoustic an. Remember the room is going to last longer then any piece of equipment yo...
cd player is dying, need suggestions please
Look for a Sony 595 as refurb from SonyStyle for about $60. Hey it also plays SACD's.
CD cleaning question
Brushing does not remove grease or finger prints. For the latter it is best to just steam them, then wipe with a soft cloth.
Dave Brubeck passes
Dave's was a life well lived and one that benefited many, many people. I am sure he is enjoying eternal life. I still have his 1952 albums, one of which is pressed in red vinyl. Let's not forget Paul Desmond, Dave would not have been the success h...
Do I need to use filler in my speaker stands?
Yes, if only to test whether an improvement in the sound would result. I've always used lead shot. Most of the speakers were ProAC and the sound did improve.
Are Monoblocks better than Multi-channeled amps??
Yes, assuming each units specs are in fact equal. The thing that gives the monoblocks an edge is that they are separate power supplies so each channels load does not impact the other, a problem when a single unit is used.
