Sony SCD-1 vs. SCD-777ES Those of you who own either of these; I curious to know how satisfied you are with the music options available in the SACD format? ROI?
Chair or Sofa? Which do you use? Sonically, I don't think it makes much difference. Sitting exactly in the sweet spot typically does. This is especially true (and rewarding) with narrowly focused speakers such as the Dunlavys.
Audio Magic vs PS audio I have used the Stealth unit now for about a year withterrific results. I have not had any exposure to the PSAudio units, but can make a comparison to the RichardGrey unit. The Stealth is better by a fair margin, yet Ihave to say that the Power Co...

What song says something about you? Amazing Grace!
Tube dampers? The Halo dampers are most definitely effective and I use them about 75% up with ARC dampers about 25% up. I also have used the Mapleshade brass dampers with good sonic results, but also lost several tubes due to overheating. I finally had to retur...
Martin Logan - wow Snap-Blurr! I've never heard electrostatics not soundmarvelous the first 20 minutes and seriously lacking thereafter. It's hard to believe that serious audiophiles will spend $$$$$ without a fairly lengthy audition to seeif the speakers are going ...
Dunlavys for HT I used the SCIIIs for the front two, SCIs for center andtwo rear and an SCIV sub. The Dunlavy signiture speakersall speak with one voice, so mixing is really not a problem.I also have a pair of SC-Vs for my reference two channel system in another ...

Best CD Player for under $5,000 The Audio Research CD-3 is the best unit at this pricepoint for Redbook CDs.
Let's forget about being politically correct The solid state amp issue really is best debated with thespeakers to be driven in mind. I have the Dunlavy SC-Vs thatlove and require a high current design amp to get the maximum potential for bass. In fact, I use two SS amps vertically biamped wh...
Equipment racks: Symposium/Mapleshade Mapleshade gives a whole lot of performance for the dollar. The word is getting out which has caused quite a backlog. It is, however, well worth the wait.
Review: Great Northern Sound Co. Wadia 860 CD Player I have an all Audio Research system, all of which (with theexception of the CD-2) have been modified by Steve. The results (which has taken some patience) have been dramatic.I truly believe that it is possible to turn a good systeminto a great one...
AudioPrism CD Stoplight & Auric illuminator work? I have had quite a lot of experience with the CD Stoplight. It's what I would call a 'trade-off' tweek. That is it improves some areas to the detriment of others. I suppose Ihave tried most of the tweeks out there and have found theMapleshade items...
Which speakers do you like in the $5K price range? Used Dunlavy SC-Vs. End of discussion! |
