Why Rhodium?
I agree with Buconero. Rhodium plated connectors are, IMHO, a fad. Until recently Rhodium was cheaper than gold, and it does resist corrosion better than PURE silver plating. But it is not a preferred surface for wearing thrust contact conections....

Geez, another bi-wiring myth thread? Can any of you you who insist that bi-wiring is advantageous please explain to me the physics behind how it is supposed to work? Can any of you guys please explain to me why the effects of bi-wiring cannot be mea...

Ear 834P or Decware ZP3 or other tube phono stage
A couple of months ago I would have advised you to look at the George Wright WPP200C - IMHO a great unit for the price, under $900 as I recall. Unfortunately George passed away recently so you can't get a new one, but they (and the older but still...
VPI Classic---Denon 103 won't fit on arm??
After reading many of the posts and rave reviews for the DL-103 family last year I decided to mount a DL-103R on my original VPI Aries TT w/ JMW 10 arm. Compliance?... I don't need no stinkin' compliance! It sounded very good, but I eventually dis...
full range close to wall positioning
I would look at the new Zu Essence, just reviewed in the latest Stereophile. I have not heard it, but I have heard the recently discontinued Druid and it was a very good speaker. The Ohm Walsh speakers are supposed to be pretty flexible as to place...
Mac Mini
>>Anything that spins, vibrates. Cat or no cat. Reduced vibration equals better sound. With all due respect, that's one of the silliest statements I have ever heard in regard to electronic media.
Tube amp with built in DAC
Peachtree Nova or the older Decco unit. Not exactly what you asked for; they are hybrid integrated amps (SS am, tube output stage on the pre section) but they are inexpensive, sound great (especially the Nova) and have very good integrated DACs.I ...
Floorstanding speakers with Conrad Johnson amp/pre
You have a wealth of choices, but I have always enjoyed ribbons or hybrids with my CJ gear. A used pair of Apogee Slant 8s would work very well with your Evo 2000, and should be quite affordable as well.I had a pair of Cepheus 6s in my living room...
Need advice on a good Phono preamp
I agree with Zeal that the Wright P200 is an excellent unit, especially for the price. But you are going to have to look for a used one because George Wright passed away last month.
Dorm Room Amp/Preamp
Tgrisham - yes, vinyl. Both my girls are very much into it. This one (the younger) is an voice (opera) major in college, and many great old performances never made it to digital media. The Decco looks pretty good, but the phono stage on the Brio is...
Dorm Room Amp/Preamp
I recently purchased a Nuforce Icon system for one of my daughters dorm... er, residence hall rooms. The sound was fine - just not enough of it. With the volume knob cranked all the way up it was still not loud enough. Sadly, it got returned.I am ...
I would like some feedback on a int. amp
Can you tell us more about your speakers? You simply said "monitor speakers", so are we to assume Harbeth, Yamaha NS-11s,or Radio Shack? If you are going to keep your current speakers, they will probably dictate what integrated amp you need more th...
Integrated w/phono: Musical Fidelity or NAD or MH?
Sorry, I should have been more clear - the Peachtree Decco is an integrated amp w/ a built-in DAC.
Integrated w/phono: Musical Fidelity or NAD or MH?
The units you listed would all be good choices, but if it were me I would probably go a different route - non-phono integrated and seperate phono stage.I would look at the Jolida JD-1301A hybrid amp. It's a 30W killer and is available new for unde...
