Has anyone tried JC1 and B&W 802Ds?
The JC1 is quite a bit better sounding than the A23 and A21, with greater rhythm and pace, for example. Some people find it sounds a bit better on the balanced input.
Best Isolation HRS? SRA? Zoethecus? Symposium?
Siddh, how long have you had your CMS stand, what do you have on it, and has it stayed level?
Reimyo CDP
I am a Reimyo dealer located in the Chicago area. In nearly all cases warranty service is performed by a highly qualified technician connected with the US distributor. Warranty is one year.
Isoclean Fuses
Isoclean fuses are sold direct by the distributor, although Isoclean dealers (I am one) can get them. They only make slow blow types because they have found fast blow not to sound acceptable.
Audio desk CD Sound Improver
The purpose of the Audiodesk Systeme CD Sound Improver is not so much to reduce eccentricity but rather to change the way light reflects and refracts at the edge of the CD by cutting at an angle. It has had a positive effect on every disc I've tri...
New tube amp for ML Prodigy CAT, VTL, ARC????
John (Jafox): you tell it like it is - the JL1s will drive them very well, but the improvements in the JL2 make it preferable in most cases. Thanks for bringing your JL3 Signatures down to play on the U-1s, it was quite an experience. Would have l...
VTL, CTC, Lamm, ARC, EAR, Halcro, Mark Levison
Gliderguider is correct, there will be no more. This was true before Bob passed away because it was not economical for them to continue, and they were a labor of love.
Bob Crump passes away over holiday.
Some good posts here, notably Fred's and Harmonia's. Since I was closer than most to Bob, I may be able to offer some additional information.Bob had been married, I think once, but after that ended he chose less formal arrangements. If I recall co...
Conrad Johnson ACT2 against Audio Research Ref 3
Ginas, I don't have a strong opinion on the ACT 2 vs. the Ref 3 but suggest you might consider upgrading your digital source. (sorry to hijack this thread)The Andras need serious power, especially current, to make them come alive, which they will....
Another sign SACD is dying
Treyhoss, my information came from a friend who works for a large retailer of recorded music.Jadem6, why the caustic remarks? Clearly you did not understand my post. You are guessing badly. Whatever. I'm going back to listening to music.
Another sign SACD is dying
Jadem6, your post appears to be based upon what you own rather than facts. That's OK, as long as you recognize it."If vinyl, SACD, DVD-A die, we audiophiles will die too."Says whom? Formats come and go. Minidisc and Elcaset are two. The death of v...
help hooking up electrostatics 2 sets at a time
You might ask Jeff Rowland. The Model 5 was his first stereo amp, while his original 350 watt Model 7 monoblocks were used with Sound Lab A-1s. You can try the Model 5, but I don't know if it will be a good long term solution driving two pairs of ...
Edge Sig 1 Preamp - Anyone have it or heard it ???
Dave, since I gather you're in Naperville you might want to visit Music Direct in Chicago, who is an Edge dealer, although it's unknown whether they have that unit on hand...If you are curious to hear a CTC Blowtorch, I'm just up the road from you...
Outstanding Drum Performances
The Sheffield Drum Record is very good. My reference is a CD-R called Drum Improvs done by a guy in St. Louis a few years ago recorded live to hard disk of himself playing a huge drum set. It's not perfect but is far more dynamic than any other dr...
Is the EMM DAC6e or DCC2 /CDSD the best out there?
Gee, Iujona, I haven't. But then I'm the Chicago area and know how I like to be treated, having been a customer for many years before crossing over to the dark side :-)
