Dartzeel amp lives up to hype
Mike, with all due respect, I posed the questions to Jonathan, not you. I still don't understand the meaning of "treatment" nor why you are responding.
Dartzeel amp lives up to hype
Jonathan, were Andy's (Hooper/Quint) amps "treated with an aftermarket product", since according to some recent posts of his on AA both had problems and he switched to other amps? What do you mean by "treated"? Are you referring to some kind of no...
HDCD a flash in the pan already??
Fatparrot, complete information on HDCD can be found by doing a patent search. Keith O. Johnson and Michael W. "Flash" Pflaumer were the principals who developed it at Pacific Microsonics. Microsoft bought the rights to HDCD some years ago but did...
Best Turntable: Acoustic-Signature, Amazon Refere
Among those listed, the Galibier appears to be a good design and sounds good. I haven't heard the Acoustic Signature or Amazon much so don't have an opinion. The big SME tables are very good, as is the Walker. I'd heartily recommend the 'tables an...
If $ was no object what speaker would you buy?
I don't know if it would be the ultimate, but I'd like to see is a full range, crossoverless plasma speaker, hopefully with direct drive electronics. Several years ago Nelson Pass developed a full range plasma speaker, but few people had a chance ...
Magico Ultimate Loudspoeakers
I've heard the Magicos and like them. It would be interesting to compare them against others such as the Acapella La Musikas and the Audiomachina Ultimate Monitors.
All the Emmlabs dcc2/cdsd hoopla..
Hi Rgs92, the CDSD was used with an SK Research shelf and two sets of Thorp Audio Group cones, one set above and one set below the shelf. There are other solutions which are probably quite effective, but the fellows who came up with these products...
All the Emmlabs dcc2/cdsd hoopla..
Fmpnd and Dgad, you make valid points. I have heard both the latest EMM and the Reimyo (which I own and sell), and to MY ears, biased as they may be, I prefer the Reimyo for overall musicality. That said, both respond favorably to proper power cor...
VAC Ren II, VAC Phi, or ARC Ref 3?
In my experience it is common for a component to sound pretty good out of the box for the first few hours and then sound bad for quite a while, gradually improving until broken in. Guidocorona's experience demonstrates that, and I don't think it s...
remyo 777 does not play certain cd-r
I have a CDP-777 and am a Reimyo dealer. Although I haven't tried a lot of different CD-Rs my experience matches Steve's, no problem with any of them.Brian
Where to repair Krell KST 100 in Chicago?
Hi Bob - I'm with the others, send it to Krell, although if it's capacitors needing replacement I can probably help.Brian
Preamp Recommendations for Parasound Halo JC-1's?
FWIW the retail price on the JC-2 will be $2750.
Preamp Recommendations for Parasound Halo JC-1's?
You might want to wait a few months. The JC-2 preamp is coming out and was shown in relatively finished prototype form at CES. (disclaimer - I'm a Parasound Halo dealer) If you can't wait the Ayre as suggested by Ejlif is a good choice.
Has Anyone Owned Or Heard A Pair Of Watkins WE-1?
The Watkins speakers and Eagle 7A amp are a very good match. I knew a fellow years ago who had that setup. He also had some ARC amps, I think M300s, that sounded good with them, too, but the Eagle was no slouch. Both companies are long gone, altho...
Funny vinyl story
Funny, but what's the real reason? Did he sell to a someone else who offered more after the bidding was closed? Sounds like a flake.
