Integrated Amp ideas for a very young audiophile
Find an original Dynaco SCA-35. Sounds quite nice, low maintenance, pretty bullet-proof, simple operation. Tubes last a LOOONG time.
Tube sound is not about warmth. It's about correct presentation.
It's NOT tubes or solid state.  Its the designer's voicing of the component.
What’s the most underrated used Audio Research gear?
ARC D-79B and D79 were quite good.  ARC made a lot of underachiever tube amps.
At what price is one considered an Audiophile.
It all depends on the quality of musical reproduction and enjoyment an owner gets from their system.  Other people don't matter.  Dealers don't matter.  Reviewers don't matter.  It's all about personal enjoyment and satisfaction.   Don't try to g...
Room Too Dead
@soix  It's OK for you to be wrong.  We're used to it.  If you like that kind of distortion, so be it.   There have been plenty of other "tests" that contradict your comment.  In one case, playback of a recording in Powell Hall of a SLSO recordi...

Room Too Dead
Room too dead?  No such thing.
Does an upgrade make sense?
What do YOU want to upgrade?  What are the shortcomings, really?
Full range stand mounted speakers
I recommend developing and listening in a cat-free environment.  Cats contribute to an excess of negative energy that creates hard treble and a lack of bass definition.  Cats are also significantly contribute to phono cartridge early wear.  Cable ...
It's almost like poll, but certainly more fun
I won't trade my Rolex.  And it's NOT a Daytona.  But I know a racer that has one.
Bought a system without auditioning, thoughts?
The ONLY criteria for buying a system is HOW IT SOUNDS TO YOU.  I have heard a lot of very positively reviewed equipment that has disappointed when auditioned.  I will never buy equipment that I have never heard.  Even phono cartridges, the least ...
Jazz for aficionados
just line your cabinet with Dave Brubeck and don't worry about anything else.

"Reviewers" are first and foremost authors.  Their work is more likely better accepted for their literary content of the review is favorable and they can prove their large vocabulary and unique descriptive terms.  I do know of one reviewer that us...
