Do You Play Or Save Your Best Cartridges I play my best cartridge, a Lyra Skala, and keep a Clavis Da Capo and AT OC9 II as spares in the eventuality the Skala needs work or gives up the ghost.
8-10k budget suggestions please That’s a tough room. I’d consider speakers that allow for near-field reproduction, five to seven foot max listening position to speakers. That will take much of the room out of the sound. Plenty of artificial Ficus trees, 5 - 6 feet in height and ...
Speakers for Atma Sphere M60 mk3 Elipsas are very good. Sashas are also quite good, but you need to listen to them on the Atma-Spheres. I have only heard the Sashas on solid state amps and don't know how the impedances match the Wilsons.
what cd player ? Onkyo C-7030. GREAT SOUND. Long life. Inexpensive. Good transport if an external DAC is added later.
Tube or solid state Using a tube preamp with a solid state amp requires impedance matching. Typically, tube preamps have a high output impedance which solid state amps can be all over the place. Having a tube preamp with a high output impedance matched to a low input...
Analyzing DACs I was fortunately enough to get a reference DAC or two from a high-end electronics manufacturer. Quote nice. But since my emphasis on on vinyl playback, the DACs, as spectacular as they are, iust another toy.
Tube or solid state Well designed equipment doesn't have the characteristics of either tube or solid state. Good equipment is neutral. So it doesn't which type of component is in what position in the chain. I happen to have a hybrid phono stage, a tube preamp an...
Speaker of My House…! Get the Sasha’s and don't worry about upgrading, they sound great.
The problem with absorption panels- it kills the fine details @rick_n I have been looking for possible new speakers and focused on Sonus Faber as a possible source. Their most recent speakers just don’t sound as good to me as their speakers from 10 years ago, Their newer software-designed systems do not s...
diffuser or absorption panels, which would you choose? I made an error in describing the artificial Ficus trees I'm using. They are 6 feet tall, not the 5 foot models.
diffuser or absorption panels, which would you choose? @soix I first saw them used at T.H.E. SHOW at CES maybe 10 years ago. There is a very prominent high end electronics manufacturer that uses them in his listening room to help control reflections and give him a more accurate reference system. M...
diffuser or absorption panels, which would you choose? I have chosen diffusion in the form of artificial Ficus trees. My room needed help from the lower midrange up. The artificial Ficus trees, layered sometimes two or three deep, broke up the sound in the room giving only the sound produced directl...

VPI upgrade? If you have a Scout 1.1, why not just upgrade to a better version of the Scout? Call VPI and as them about your options.
Under my tower speakers -- Isoacoustics Gaia, other options? Spikes are the best for concrete floors. If the bass isn't right, then change the listening position of speaker placement. |
