How much isopropanol is effective but safe for viny?
Only my opinion. And I may be wrong. The questions really boil down to what bad stuff is in the grooves and what will be remove it. The most likely foreign materials would be dirt, dust, oils. Maybe some grease. It ends up that Isopropanol is not a...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@lewm Sauerkratut cans work just fine under tables manufactured by the Swiss and Germans.
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@geoffkait One of the best characteristics of Spam is that it has no expiration date. It's good forever even if it's left out in the open at room temperature.
Phono stage inquiry
I have a Herron Audio VTPH-2a that is dead silent, even on the MC side.  There should be NO noise from a phono stage at slightly elevated listening levels.  If there is, it's either a bad unit or it's a bad design.
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@ glupson - Be very careful! Mine implosions are dangerous. The results just suck. And beware! Most of the visitors to Iowa go missing. They just wander out into the fields and are never seen again. Rumor is they die of boredom, but nobody has gon...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@glupson - LMAO is an abbreviation for Loose Molecular Attraction Oscillator.  It an advanced audio component that mounts next to any power outlet used for audio equipment.  It's purpose is to magnetically remove bad electrons and re-spin the rema...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@bba - I'm cheap and lazy.  Went to Amazon and picked up a maple (mable?) butcher block end grain board about the same size as my table.  I have a few different materials to try under the board including a couple of different types / shapes / thic...
Wet Cleaning records makes things worse?

Static electricity pulled the rubber mat right off the Turntable!
Sometimes it might be better to give less, rather than more information.
Thorens Turntables
Thorens has been around longer than many of us.  They are Swiss, make excellent tables (depending on the model) and stand behind their products.  ALL of their products.  Their TD-124 is legendary and a very good performer.  It's hard to tell how a...

Do you have a ground wire from the TT chassis to ground?  Maybe even the ground on the wall power socket?  Might want to try a continuity check between the tt chassis / plinth and ground.

What phono pre am I looking for?
@chakster  "no longer with us"?  Really?  So that explains why you are hawking you r wares on this forum.  Your credibility and objectivity just took a nosedive somewhere below zero.
Phono cable recommendations - high performance good value cable
@cleeds There is resonance in EVERYTHING! That resonance impacts sound quality and can interact with other components regardless of their isolated measurements. If you consider what a resonance is, then you can answer your own questions.  I assume ...
Phono cable recommendations - high performance good value cable
It's all about cable resonances.  The very small signal from the cart and from the transformer will and does generate resonances in all the components.  A cable must either reduce the resonances or let them pass.  Every cable hs different resonanc...
