Help me pick a phono, pre and cart
My opinion....I would agree with @oregonpapa on the cartridge selection, but not with the PH-8. The ART9 has a great reputation. I do not have ANY experience, but there are a lot of people that think it’s a great performer, particularly with your ...
anti slip for turntable belt
@amg56 - au contraire.  Even back to the days of the first AR turntable, their original instructions directed users to periodically wipe the belt with a damp cloth and apply talcum powder.  VPI says the same thing.  I seem to recall Oracle stating...
Micro RX 5000 Renaissance?
@nandric I read constantly., particularly research material.  It's one thing to go into detail when reviewing mundane topics like shortcuts to cryptographic attacks due to the development of Quantum Computing, another thing to read verbose and oft...
Help me pick a phono, pre and cart
There are a LOT of potential combinations that would provide pleasing vinyl playback.  I have no particular dog in this fight, but would suggest one possible combination that would work well for the music you enjoy.  Perhaps consider a VPI Prime, ...
anti slip for turntable belt
I have a novel idea!!  Why not try to follow the manufacturer's recommendation.
How tight do you tighten a record clamp
I tap lightly on the record with the back of my fingernails as I tighten the screw-down record clamp. The record will give off a hollow sound until the clamp hits the right level of pressure. Then it will sound solid as the record mates tightly ag...
Micro RX 5000 Renaissance?
@rauliruegas Do you think you could shorten your comments to around the length of, say, "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" or maybe "War and Peace"?  Being concise has its advantages.
Small Bedroom Tube Amp
In looking at your application, you hardly need anything "high end."  My suggestion is an inexpensive monoprice 25watt or 50watt hybrid tube integrated.  Plenty there from either to drive a pair of bookshelf speakers and provide music to a help re...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
@geoffkait  What golden rule of cones.  Oh, no.  I didn't know!!   Please don't call the cone police!  Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!  ;-)I didn't want to put threaded inserts into the maple bb.  My thin and weak excuse is that I didn't want to risk...
Using Maple Butcher Block Under a Turntable
Placed the maple butcher block on three cones solid brass (facing up) on the top of the record shelves (same shelf / position as before).  Placed the Aries Extended on the butcher block.  Put three stillpoints under the table at the approximate po...
Micro RX 5000 Renaissance?
I wanted to ask a question related to the better MS tables, but I see @invictus005 has already infected this thread.
Parasound JC 3+ Phono Preamp Hum
The issue is a defective JC3+. It should never hum. Call parasound and let them know of the problem. @invictus005 is just upset.  He has serious "issues."
Parasound JC 3+ Phono Preamp Hum
Send it back.  It's another Parasound problem.
Pre and Amp Suggestions
Call Keith Herron at Herron Audio to see if he will give you the package deal of a lifetime on a VTSP-360 preamp and pair of M-1 mono amps. Outstanding performers at any price, a steal for $10K.
