Speakers for 3K
If you can find the KEF 203/2 for $3K used, I think they are fabulous speakers. I can't tell you how to choose between the 205s and the 203/2, but the KEF reference speakers I've heard are smooth, detailed, and very involving.I haven't heard the o...
Silverline Minuet Speakers and Receivers or Amps
I think he is simply mistaken. When I heard the Minuet demo'd at HE2007 in NYC, they were fed with not just a receiver, but an old Phillips receiver that Alan Yun (of Silverline Audio) had found at a garage sale. Couldn't have been good for more t...
Ohm Walsh vs. Mirage OMD 28
I have seen Ohm setups with a lot of absorptive materials not only at the first reflection points, but almost all around the front and side of the room at ear level. Remember: the "first reflection" point for an omni is not the same as for a conve...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Joefish - I think that's the CD, but it is a copied CD-R that someone gave me years ago; no live second disc. I have Welcome Home on vinyl, but since I am only on the letter "C" in my alphabetical quest to listen and digitize (in real time) my vin...
Ohm Walsh vs. Mirage OMD 28
My Ohms sounded good in a number of positions, but careful placement will bring out their full potential, as will acoustic treatments to your room. As usual, Mapman makes some excellent points.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Another suggestion is any album by Aimee Man (Mann?). I have listened to several, including "Lost In Space" last night. Note that this was the standard Redbook CD, not the remastered CD that is out there. Really exiting and emotionally involving. ...
Ohm Walsh vs. Mirage OMD 28
I own the Walsh 2000s, but have not heard that particular Mirage model. Major differences to consider are the use of metal tweeters in the Mirage, and the frequency of the crossover, which is way up at 8kHz for the Ohms. Although both aim at a qua...
Best Speakers new/used for around 2k
Slinker - I just upgraded to Ohm Acoustics Walsh 2000. They are a little too expensive at $2800/pr, but the 1000 model comes in at $2000/pr. With a subwoofer, they would probably work well in your room. Cubic footage ranges for each model (without...
I want a warmer high end
Agreed, some of the Paradigm models can be a bit bright, although my older Atoms (Version 2?) are pretty mellow and rolled off in the highs. Another monitor that might float your boat is the Silverline Audio Minuet ($600/pr list, street price some...
Help with speaker choice
I second Gary's comment! The Boleros are probably my favorite speaker, certainly my favorite under $15K. The current version lists for $12K, so the pair for sale are a steal. They are efficient, so your amp will drive them just fine. They are abit...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Tim - I hate to keep flogging this horse, but if you get the opportunity to hear them, the Vandersteen 2Wq subwoofers should solve your issues quite nicely. Unlike most mass-market subs, they are designed to go into a corner, on the floor. In my c...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Guys - I really don't know what version I have. I am the third owner. I looked, and there is no "aim toward center of room" sticker on either speaker. My system is a 7.1 setup, with the MWTs on the sidewalls, just behind my chair, and a pair of Pa...
which amplifier best for von schweikert speaker?
Funny you should ask this, since one thing I remember well from one of the NYC H.E. shows was the VS room, where a pair of the 4JRs was sounding just okay with a large integrated, but the same speakers sounded incredible down the hall powered by t...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Finsup - Listened to two of my favorite 5.1 DVDs last night: "Best of Sessions At 54th Street Vol. 1" and Peter Gabriel's "Play". All I can say is wow! I still have to dial in the channel balance much more carefully than I have so far, but here's ...
Silverline sr 11's
No connection whatsoever, AFAIK. The Silverline models of Kirksaeter are just the name of one of its product lines. They are based in Germany. Silverline Audio is an independent speaker manufacturer based in California.
