Merrill amps at Audiophile Society meeting
Oops. I meant the June meeting. June 23rd to be exact.
Help with a system for a guy into electronic music
That's a pretty big room. Plus, if you try and tame the acoustics, you may need more wattage into the Dynaudio's than the Simaudio can provide. Accordingly, I would look into either a more powerful amp or more effecient speakers. The Focus 160 is ...
Merrill amps at Audiophile Society meeting
Nice! Merrill will be hosting the July meeting of the New Jersey Audio Society. I am looking forward to hearing these amps. Any Jersey folks out there interested in attending, please let me know.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Wtf: Exactly! Dennis is not obligated to disclose information about his amps, and you are not obligated to buy one. Similarly, witness the absence of Magnepan reviews in Stereophile. Stereophile requires bench testing for all full reviews in the m...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Peterr53: Perfect imaging? Is there such a thing? I never said perfect. I like the imaging I get with and without the stands. But my cement floor is uneven, and the speakers wobbled. With the bases, the center image is solid and stable, and I get ...
Internet radio stations that sound really good
Shoutcast allows searching by bit rate. Usually, if a radio streamer bothers with 320kbps streaming, the sound is pretty good, IME, for internet radio.
JRiver & Logitech Squeezebox Touch Problem
Have you tried contacting JRiver? If all else fails, I use dBPoweramp to rip to my server in FLAC, and playback through a SBT. The dBPoweramp allows you to edit and verify the tags and album art prior to the rip. I use MP3tag to edit the tags and ...
Best Way to Play Flac Files
My problem, should my SBT die, is how to get the wifi signal being broadcast by my router, which is hard-wired to my music server, into my (non-USB) DAC. So far, I have seen no appealing SBT alternatives. Sonos is too pricey, I don't (yet) own a s...
Advice for a two channel amp
You refer to a budget without disclosing it. But, I would think the Odyssey Audio Khartago would meet your requirements.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Regarding the OEM source of the amp modules in D-Sonics amps, if you read the 6Moons review, you'll see that Dennis ain't talkin'. IMHO, that's his prerogative. It's all about the sound. If the amp sounds good, what difference does it make, really...
Is the V.P.I. Traveler made in China
I've been to the factory and seen VPI tables, including Travellers, in various stages of assembly. These are hand built from machined parts that are also made almost entirely in New Jersey by local machine shops. This I heard from Harry's mouth di...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Coot: At the rate I am going, you'll have your new amp before I will have mine, so when you do get it, please post your impressions. Thanks!
Best Way to Play Flac Files
Actually, the stock Squeezebox Touch only plays up to 96/24, although there are mods out there that get you to 192/24, IIRC. Of course, if you don't already own a SBT, you're SOL.
Olive 3HD or Marantz 6004
Careful with the Marantz. AFAIK, it does not do "gapless" playback. That's a deal breaker for me. I have a Vortexbox Appliance, and love it, along with a Squeezebox Touch. Simple, cheap, and great sound.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Coot - If you review my more recent posts, you will see that my Odyssey Audio HT3 amp (w/ cap upgrade), which is rated at 150 watts/channel @ 8 ohms, was audibly clipping **in the midrange**, especially on vocals. I do run my Walsh 2000s with powe...
