Advice on a streamer
No love for the Marantz NA6006?  I have heard it, thought it sounded really good, and seems like a good value.
Vandersteen 1C to 3A Signature
@patrickdowns...I have read those reviews. The placement requirements for Larsens are a deal breaker for me, and others, who can't provide the wall space.  But if you have a place for them, certainly worth an audition, IMHO.
Vandersteen 1C to 3A Signature
I would suggest something, um, outside the box.  10 years ago, I decided to replace my 1Cs.  The 2Ces were a little too large, physically, for my room.  I ended up with a pair of Ohm Walsh 2000s, and 10 years later, I haven't regretted it for a mi...
How many dealers do you use?
I have been involved with a local audio society for a dozen or so years.  Many of our meetings are hosted by B&M dealers.  While I don't make many audio related purchases, I try to patronize those dealers when I can.  That said, there is one d...
Best sub for music,
I believe cone material is only one small piece of the puzzle.  Speaker design is as much an art as a science.  My pair of Vandersteen 2Wq subs, now discontinued, have never been anything less than super musical, powerful and of a piece with my ma...
How long can preamp tubes last?
Tubes in my Mcintosh C220 have been in place for almost ten years, used on average about 15-20 hours per week.  When I had the preamp serviced this past fall, I had the tubes tested.  They tested like new.  So, the answer is, a very long time.
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
@uncleang... Yup, that's our JS!  I have met him numerous times, and called him on occasion, and JS is BS-free.  12 years and counting with my Walsh 2000s.  Loving them more and more.  Wish I could say that about my wife!
Qobuz or Tidal?
So, I recently tried and subscribed to Qobuz.  I can easily stump it with what I thought should have been titles in the Qobuz library.  But there is a lot of there there.  The one HUGE, GLARING OMISSION, however is the lack of a radio-style option...
What process did you use to integrate multiple subwoofers for 2 channel listening?
Yup, I knew I would end up with a pair of subs.  I am a big fan of the Vandersteen subs.  I think their unique design makes for excellent integration and easy placement.  They are designed for corner placement (why isn't every sub designed to sit ...
Manger Audio Loudspeakers. Has anyone listened to these?
I once heard a DIY speaker that used a Manger driver.  IIRC, it was augmented in the bass range, either by a built in woofer or stand alone sub.  It sounded really good, but it will not do really deep bass without help.  It may be similar to a fla...
WHAT IS THE MOST TOUCHY SONG THAT YOU HAVE EVER HEARD?
Most "touchy" song? I guess that would be "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. 😋 Edit...oops, somebody beat me to it.
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
AFAIK, I think it varies from model to model.  I think my 2000s have an aluminum driver, but it doesn't sound at all like an aluminum driver.  John Strohbeen is a genius.
Bin dug noisy records. Does it diminish your enjoyment?
Not anymore!  Been digging my Sweetvinyl Sugarcube SC-2 with surface noise masking upgrade.  I turn my $1 and $2 record show finds into near mint vinyl, then make a hi res digital file of them for my server.  Love it, but, of course, I clean my re...
Is D for Dry? Class D...
@mapman As you know, I own the Ohm Walsh 2000s for 11 years now.  A great match with my class D amp, and a great value, IMHO, at full retail.  Used and fully broken in makes them a no brainer, IMO.
Is D for Dry? Class D...
@chronicle... Sorry, my preamp is a Mcintosh C220 tube hybrid.  Note that the mains are crossed over to a pair of subwoofers, first order, beginning at 80Hz, so the amp sees attenuated levels in the bottom two octaves. Lots of headroom.
