Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi First of all, thanks to all who offered help.Right now, I am leaning towards the Small Green Computer package of i5 Transporter, Ultra Rendu and LPS. It is cost effective, Roon core capable, but can run without Roon. SGC's USB to S/PDIF adapter ...
Sweetvinyl Sugarcube - SC1 and SC2 @andysf Consider the SVNR upgrade, s hardware upgrade Sweetvinyl will do for $500. IME, removing the clicks and pops reveals more surface noise. SVNR does a good job of masking that noise.
Anyone dislike Ohm Walsh speakers? About to hit year 12 with my 2000s. No desire to change these for anything anywhere near the price, even the new higher price. FWIW, I bought them without hearing them first. Once broken in, they are fantastic, IMHO.
Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi @grannyring which Innous do you own? Are you using their LPS or Phoenix reclocker? Thanks.
Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi @fuzztone... I agree with you on the DAC. Please explain what you mean by "something you can do yourself". Do you mean assembling your own computer based music server? Or simply spinning CDs? I am curious. I know some find music library mana...
Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi Thanks, folks! Not a lot of love for Melco or Innuos?
Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi @david_ten I have only heard good things about Wolf Audio. But equipped as I need it, their entry level price is a budget buster.
Help me pick one of four music servers/streamersreqi @ everyone above... Thanks! I should have put the SGC package on the list. I originally started out with a VB appliance from SGC in 2011, and was pleased, although I did have a HD failure about 4 years in (thank goodness for backups!). I would p...

DAC That Punches Above Its Price Point @jerrybj.... interesting post. I am using a modded older Beresford that is around 10-15 years old. No USB, but I haven't needed one so far. Planning to upgrade server, so will likely need USB. This old DAC sounds really good. The modder, a lo...
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality? @audionacious.... I did the same thing in the fall of 2009 with the same speakers, which were a new model at the time. After reading through hundreds of posts here in several threads from Ohm owners, a pattern emerged which, IME, accurately chara...
Ohm Speakers and Services prices to increase September 1st @audiothesis... You're too late for Ohm. My speakers increased $1000 to $3800 pr. The price was steady for over 10 years. Two points... 1. IMHO, the Walsh 2000, my awesome speakers since 2009, is still a great value at the new price. 2. It spea...
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality? @cdrat... I don't know what the woofer surround material is. However, the current line of Ohm Walsh speakers are expected to have about a 50 year lifespan, according to John at Ohm. John is all too aware of the wear and tear issues with earlier...
I'm looking for a pair of interconnects that won't shatter the bank.... My system is mostly wired with Morrow, series 3 and 5 interconnects. They are a good value, IMHO. I needed a short length of RCA cable due to the addition of a transformer, and just as a placeholder, I ordered the house-assembled Audio Quest RCA...
Vandersteen 1C to 3A Signature @gdnrbob and o.p....That's exactly what I did in my quest to improve my 1Cs, along with upgrading most of my electronics. It helped to add one, then a second 2Wq, then a pair of MHP-5 crossovers. But after all of that I felt I had taken the 1Cs a... |
