Power conditioners and power regeneration When the El Nino weather pattern began to really kick in a few weeks ago in my area, I began to notice a slight uptick in sound quality deterioration during the hottest parts of the day when everyone's air conditioners were going full tilt. Late a...
What is the science behind audiophile fuses? I have had SR purples in my Primaluna pre and power for a couple of years and loved them, but it took about 20 hours of play to really start to hear what they were doing. At 50 hours the juice really started to come on. A few weeks ago I added th...
Why Can't Modern Tube Manufacturers Make a Proper Tube? I have been running 8 A-matched Sophia Electric EI-34’s in my Primaluna and have been very pleased with them. Not cheap though.
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil... I went through a variety of xlr interconnects from the likes of Audioquest, Moon Audio and others. They were okay, but it wasn't until I got some AntiCables gold/ silver alloy that I found what really worked for me and my system and at a price I c...
What Horn loaded speaker/ speaker system for $10k'ish and under I got my Cornwall 4’s to behave better by making wood angle jigs screwed to the base risers of the speakers and screwed to my wooden floor. These jigs are aligned with the back wall such that measuring their leading edge distances to the back wall...
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil... Refrain from what? I thought I was being amusing. So called "snake oil" does have some therapeutic properties however minimal, Perhaps we use that word recklessly and impertinently when we bandy it about in audio land.
Anyone else using "Allflac.com?" One might also notice that some listings are available at 24 bit FLAC. My CD transport will not play those files but it can upsample 44.1 to 176.4, so I have been quite satisfied with that. In a good recording I can hear every little thing.
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil... "Snake Oil"
Anyone else using "Allflac.com?" They certainly sound hi-rez especially after being converted to .wav. I also burn my CD's at the slowest possible speed in my legacy windows media app and use Plexdisc Digital Audio CD-R's in the Taiyo Yuden version.
From whence does Sound Stage come? Soundstage easiest to achieve with horn speakers...in my experience.
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil... My favorite speaker cables are 10 AWG, cloth covered, 32 strand tinned copper with a pvc liner salvaged from a 1980's telephone transfer station and had relatively high voltage going through them on a daily basis for years, ie they were very thoro...
DAC Vibrations? ".1%" improvement is nothing to sneeze at.
And Awaaay We Go! "Audio ala Harley is so clearly a rich man’s activity, like yachting." I’ll bet their are people out there of reduced means who encountered your own system and had similar thoughts. "Audio a la Stuartk is clearly a bourgeois activity like materia...
The Wonderful World of CD-R's Thanks for your suggestions. I have currently landed on the Plexidisc Taiyo Yuden which are performing very well. Looking at the write side, a very clear reflection of my face appears unlike many other discs which send back a cloudy reflection. Wh...
From whence does Sound Stage come? "From Whence" - Shakespeare |
