Pads or Spikes? Agreed, but coupling to the floor or shelf with weight is another thing entirely and especially so with components that are not especially beefy. It can make a huge difference in sound quality in a reasonably compact package. A lead brick 2x4x8 in...
No discussion about the Synergistic Pink fuse? I love SR fuses but will probably go no further than the Purples. Fuses are "filters" quite obviously. I don't know why the grumps get so worked up over them. Everything in the electrical chain is to a greater or lesser extent a filter.
Pads or Spikes? Leave original component footers in place. Put lead bricks (with self-stick vinyl bumpers attached) atop components. This is by far the most silent option I have tried.
Audiophilism is a hobby This is a sand box and everyone has the right to move the sand about however they wish without being lectured to about their decisions. What forums like this tend to attract are scolds. Come on in one and all and take your shoes off - the sand is ...

"The Mystery Of Sound Is Mysticism" He didn't really find himself musically until the early 2,000's, and not all of that appeals to me personally, but much of it does.
"The Mystery Of Sound Is Mysticism" These theories hint at why I find the later music of Deuter to be so attractive. He has what was once used to describe the writing of Ernest Hemingway - " skillful simplicity." The better my sound system has become the more can I appreciate what ...
Anticables 4.2flex > PureAudioProject Yes you are right - the 4.2 versions are solid copper. I couldn't double check that yesterday as their site was not functioning well enough to see. The solid copper wires will of course also require break in. I do own 5 of the Anticables level 3 p...
Anticables 4.2flex > PureAudioProject If the wires are "AceLectrum which is an alloy of silver and gold then they will have a break-in period. My XLR interconnects took about 50 hours to start behaving. That wire becomes a very good performer over time.
Can a poorly connected XLR connection cause a reduced(less loud) signal? I think I have experienced this issue before. XLR's sometimes do not have a very robust grip. On suspect connections I have wrapped the XLR's with tape with extra length attached to top of amp to act a sort of "hoist" that pulls the connector upwa...
Guess who has new speakers in their lab? Jay's channel is 75% drumroll.
Audiophile Comedy Marching In Step My personal view concerning audiophilia is that all the components must march in step or else the war will not be won.

Audiophile Comedy I have been dosing those cartoons out to my "mailing list" and most everyone is yucking it up - many of them in dire need of humor's brief respite in these absurd and trying times.
The Wonderful World of CD-R's The Jay's Audio CDT3 MK3 CD transport I am using contains the Tuned Philips CDPro2-LF Mechanism with the hold down puck that is covered in a thin layer of black foam on the CD side for grip and vibration damping. This, in effect, is the same as bl... |
