Huge difference in sound : Spikes vs. Vibrapods
Tek thank you for posting this experience. My speakers are extremely dynamic, & that "gut-punching bass" is something that I'm so used to that when I hear a rig lacking those dynamics I really miss the effect; it seems to have so little PRaT.M...
CATV Groundloop, toBeat a Dead Horse and the Shack
This is pretty simple if you can fabricate connectors (or you know someone who can). Just cut off the type F on your incoming coax & install an RCA there instead. Then make an adapter cable with RCA at the isolator's output & type F (or wh...
Back with some more cables
Tek what power source are you using for your active shielding power supply? If it's the little wallwart power pack then you're not realizing all the potential of your Designers Reference. If it's the Master Control Center then that's an improvemen...
What speakers are replace Klipsch horns?
Yes I see that Alma has regained her sanity - thank the audio gods! Agree that a high quality preamp is the heart of the matter here; my philosophy is that the pre (if you use one) should be the best piece in your system. Also another good mosfet a...
Connecting two amps-bi-amp cabling
With outputs paralleled, the amps wouldn't work for very long if at all. Perfectimage's push-pull idea will work. MIT is recommended esp. when stability issue is involved, as in this case.
Pink Floyd's "Echoes"
I liked the set too, although I also question some of the tracks & their placement (seems like chronological order would make more sense - like "Beatles 1"). Worthwhile adding to your Floyd collection.
What speakers are replace Klipsch horns?
Mce: KEEP those horns! I'd take 'em in a heartbeat if I had corners, but I don't so that's why I've stuck with my classic Belles (same drivers & x-over as Khorns but in a beautifully woodworked box cabinet) for >20 years. I like mine with a...
Tweaks break-in period ?
You might try reverting to the original cones just as a sanity check? Flex's question is also valid here - moving cones closer togther can soften & warm the sound, while moving them further apart can increase detail at the expense of warmth. I...
McCormack RLD-1 vs Rogue Audio 66 vs TLC-1 deluxe
woops I think I maybe erred regarding the RLD - believe it does have remote, as annotated by the "R" in RLD?
Warmest? BAT VK200, Classe CA200, Mccormack .5
Can't help you regarding the comparison question but I had to remark about McCormack's. They have a very warm, dynamic & musical sonic signature when paired with the right speakers, cables, & AC cord, which did require a fair amount of exp...
McCormack RLD-1 vs Rogue Audio 66 vs TLC-1 deluxe
Tacs advisement regarding selling the DNA125 / replace with a tube amp would indeed not seem to matchup with your taste for jazz & rock; many tubes just can't pump the bass power required for great slam & dynamics. I've heard the Joseph's ...
Help, Strange Static Sound Recurring
Hy there's one other very basic issue that I forgot to mention, which could be the cause of this intermittent noise. We sometimes "look too deeply" into a technical problem, neglecting the basics which those of us that are more-experienced tend to...
Help, Strange Static Sound Recurring
Regarding possible service: I know an expert in Minneapolis area that may be able to assist you himself, or can refer you to someone else who can.
Help, Strange Static Sound Recurring
Hy whatever you do don't listen to your wife - she has not the slightest appreciation for what you have there, which is a very nice rig esp. for a newbie. Beside that, someone else will end up with a steal of a deal on this equipment & then go...
What would you do??
Pricha why not have the original woofers refoamed or even reconed? The surrounds can be economically replaced alone, provided that the cones are still in decent shape, or the whole voicecoil/spider cone/surround can be replaced in the original bas...
