Dented Tweeter?
I've fixed this exact problem with drafting tape (its adhesive doesn't leave a residue) folded around a finger, sticky side out. Blue Tack would probably do the trick as well. I had reservations about trying to do this, but I figured it was alread...
Urgent Help: Wire for dedicated lines???
Not everyone with a dedicated line uses AC line conditioning, expecially when sourcing a power amp. Ask Mike VansEvers if you must understand the physics - I trust him unquestionably & certainly won't be arguing so help yourself. Whatever the ...
Any good audio book suggestions ???
Does anyone have a favorite publication on analog / turntable, cartridge & arm setup? Some once one told me about a handy small-ish booklet called "how to set up a turntable" but he didn't remember the author. Does Harley's book go into suffic...
Tubes on Hales Transcendence 5?
I heard a pair of Hales t5's at a show with ARC Reference 300 monoblocks & MIT's best speaker cable. The setup sounded good but those speakers really sucked up the power so hopefully you're planning on some high power amps.

analog newbie
regardless of your approach, has anyone determined that cleaning results are better realized if you Zerostat the record first? I've tried it that way & it seems to work better whether I'm brushing off some stray dust or just applying a blast o...
Do cables really need "breaking in"?
Every time that one of these threads go up there's always a big controversy. If you don't want to believe it then don't, it's your loss. I used to be with the objective crowd too, being an EE with audiophile inclinations, but I ignorantly refused ...
Amp quality / Slam
dynamics issue? Are you using (I see no mention of) upgrade AC cords? If not then you need to experiment with some good cords. Other tweaks that can help to enhance dynamics: cones, shelving, Vibrapods, preferrably all placed under your source com...
How much DC is considered safe?
see what happens when the amp inputs are shorted, this info might tell the manufacturer something useful when you talk to them. If you're not applying any signal (playing music) then there's no AC component to confuse the meter when you take this ...
