Black Diamond Racing products under speakers?
how about some Locktite thread locker compound (use the green minimum strength, or at most the blue formulation) on those threads. They won't be coming loose again until you wrench on them.
Reaction to : Bedini-Ultra Clarifier II
never have tried the Bedini myself, but I have experimented with (1) a bulk magnetic tape eraser & (2) a Zerostat guntried these on a few CD's - but I heard no differences at all.Antistatic spray (Endust for Electronics) applied to the label s...
Have problem choosing cables XLO or Tara Labs ??
You may be focusing in the wrong area...Have you experimented at all with upgrade AC cords? Every cord sounds different & even behaves differently on different components. Also experiment with isolation & coupling tweaks (cones, shelving, ...

Analog outputs on Accuphase DP-75v
sorry Rich the experment isn't valid if using different cablesConsider Linkster's post: the player isn't internally balanced by design. In order to achieve a balanced output, they tack on a differential line driver circuit following the unbalanced...
HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
This all goes to show just how overpriced the US domestic EC equipment market actually is. There was one very telling remark above regarding their preamps' lack of quality for the high price, & I couldn't agree more. I once borrowed a demo EC ...
Comments on the Shanling CD T-100 CD player
I would be very interested in this machine. In addition to HDCD capability, you have choices of tube output or solid state output. 24/96 switchable upsampling, & volume control. Tweakable & already upgradable. My one reservation is the top...

Is it advisable to power down CDP/Transport?
Hopefully the pickup design turns the laser off when not actually playing, but who knows this for certain? I've always wondered about this especially since I had to have an aging pickup replaced, which wasn't cheap. This EAD machine never fully po...
Quietest amplifier you have ever owned.
my quietest amp is the Ayre V3 - fully balanced design I suspect is the reason why it's so dead quiet. Even driving horns, there is absolutely *no* idle noise with an ear nailed directly to the cabinet front.
What stand does you Turntable sit on?

how do you measure the coil in the crossover?
you need to measure not only the inductance value but also the Q factor of the choke, which a simple DMM won't measure. An impedance bridge is required but that's simply cost prohibitive. You'll probably need to find an electronics lab to check it...
VPI-19 feet
Mr Fleschler that's very interesting, however I do have trouble understanding something about your setup. With a seismic sink under the TT footers, what functions do the granite slab & steel stand serve? It seems like the Townsend would isolat...

might need to experiment with cartridge loading resistance in your phono stage / or different interconnects?
HELP: I need a solid state amp with a tube sound
Rowland & Aloia are both good suggestions above.Surprised that no one has suggested the Ayre V3! Typically recommended as a "tube-like" sound; go to Stereophile's website archives & check out their review of the Ayre V3 - it's amazing. Pre...
