Cleaning & polishing speakers & gear
Endust for Electronics: spray some on a piece of blue lintfree paper towel for cleaning equipment faceplates etc. Also good for cables (works like antistatic Nordost Eco 3 but is way way cheaper) & applied to the label side of some CD's it can...
3 Dedicated lines into 1
All of these helped but I think the remaining noise is because the amp and Monster are on different circuits. Does anyone think combining these circuits to be on the same line would help?Yes that can be a problem due to unequal length grounds of m...
VPI SDS vs PLC
I use the SDS. Had considered the PLC (but never tried one) until I read that the SDS is significantly more effective, & also that the PLC radiates large amounts of interfering EMI into any nearby active componentry.
need help
Yes! it sounds that good! HDCD is a great 20 bit format with PLENTY of material out there. Discs costs the same as redbook, but sound SO MUCH better on any decent system that anyone can tell the difference immediately, even the uninitiated. HDCD j...
Powering System On - Switched Outlets vs Triggers
best to leave any solid state equipment always powered on unless lightning is nearby. In that case turn everything off & unplug, yes unplug it as well. Lots of threads on this topic are in the archives.

reading and decoding hdcd`s
HDCD is a great format with PLENTY of material out there. It costs the same as redbook but sounds SO MUCH better on any decent system that anyone can tell the difference immediately, even the uninitiated. HDCD just smokes out redbook & doesn't...
advice on brightness
Try experimenting with some different upgrade AC cords; if that's no help, then AC line conditioning to quiet down the line noise may help you out - both of these approaches did it for me when in a similar situation.
Looking for Suggestions
Experiment with upgrade AC cords on any component having detachable cords. Again, silver may be able to brighten things up for you, but do try out a few different cords. Buy used here & then resell what doesn't work out.
Were to get fuse box for dedicated line?
Actually there IS another way. My old farmhouse has two fuse panels, because the original wasn't large enough to accomodate the additional circuits which were added later. The licensed electrical contractor who performed the add-on installation si...
Were to get fuse box for dedicated line?
Breakers vs. fuses are very bad advice; not at all recommended. Fuses are the superior protection device above & beyond any lousy circuit breaker.Use of more than a single dedicated circuit is setting yourself up for possible ground hum issues...
How to respond to those who say it's not a hobby?
Definitely go out & upgrade that source component asap; the biamping might wait awhile however. Then when you're coming home late from the bar & chasing skirts, you can rationalize that it isn't a hobby either (just be damn sure that you're...
