John Hartford
I have enjoyed his music ever since I first saw him on the Smothers Brothers Show. He honored and celebrated true American music. A shame to hear hes gone.
Smear campaign?
The same thing seems to take place in the review section of Audioreview. In those cases the agenda is usually transparent as they end up promoting the products compitition. Most of the slams here are not specific and are ignored by me. Some people...
I am Not hurting anything right ??
Try it both ways and leave it the way it sounds best to you! It really dosnt matter which way is recommended or considered correct in theory, what matters is what sounds better to you in your setup. If we trust only numbers we might as well throw ...
Trascendent Sound Grounded Grid preamp
Puubie- Can you elaborate on the mods. Did you use an Alps pot? Would it be possible to add a second main out for biamping or sub? I have heard great things about this preamp.
wood tonic hurts ?
Jim-By the way, what speakers do you use? You must really love them (if you are kissing them).
wood tonic hurts ?
The only thing I would caution is when dealing with veneer. Too much solvent based or even oil based treatment can damage the adhesive and cause the veneer to seperate from the cabinate. Fortunately this occured when trying to revive a worthless o...
Musicality" in a system? What IS that ?
I have heard very "accurate" reproduction on a system with "incredible detail" rob the music of its soul. Maybe electronic music sounds awesome, but despite the fact you can hear the 2nd violinist adjust his music sheet, classcal music sounds mech...
ProAc, Snell, Soliliquy, Spendor, Totem
Someones listed Soliloquy 5.3 today, might be a tie breaker.
To Sub or not to Sub...?
I wish I read my own stuff before I posted it. If you cant spell to begin with, having questionable typewriting skills does not help. But if I cant spell stereo.......
To Sub or not to Sub...?
Even on recordings that hardly work my sub the "soundstage" will shrink if I turn it off. The hardest part (after finding where it works best in your room) is the crossover. Many subs have no hi-pass filter, and most that have them degrade the sou...
Speakers 500,for Audio Refinement Amp
With the Compelete I would suggest looking at speakers that present an easy load in order to get the most out of your amp. 8ohm, 88db or more. My first thought was the Dynaudio 40 but it does best with more current. B+W has the new 300 budget rang...
Best Reagae CD ?
While Bob Marley will always be my faverite, I suggest copilations as you can sample different artists work without buying a lot of cds (or lps) that only contain one song you like. The Real Authentic Sample (RAScd3301, Heartbeat Reggae Now! (cd H...
Need Turntable advise
VPI JR is a safe place to start. Michell and Nottingham, offer very good sound at mid prices. Pick one your interested in and post here and you are bound to get opinions from someone who has heard it.
Arcams's New Diva Series Players
Does the 72 have 24/96 chip? I think a dealer in town carries Arcam, might take a look. Glad they changed the look, never liked the Alphas casework. Its a shame to be put off by appearance when something sounds good.
Wha'choo lookin' at?
Sports on mute with music has got to be a common practice as well as reading. Sometimes the game gets too exciting and the music goes down and the tv goes up. Sometimes the music gets so envolving the tv goes off. Best listening is with the lights...
