+1 @johnk Great point. +1 @juanmanuelfangioii If we didn't feel both rewarded and frustrated through the process, we wouldn't feel so highly about the hobby overall. Sometimes enduring the frustration is what makes the rewarding moments even m...
Chord DAVE DAC
In these forums (and just about any other forum on the internet), most times discussions revolve around inquiries and perspectives. When done well, those perspectives surface values, which can be helpful to learning how those values can be fulfill...
Chord DAVE DAC
@jackhifiguy Based on what @adasdad said, I want to reiterate my questions from earlier which you didn’t answer. What attributes have you heard about it that sound appealing? What kind of sound signature do you find most appealing, and what DAC wo...
Opinions: Martin Logan Renaissance 15a vs. Bowers & Wilkins 800D3
@farne230 What is the size of your room, and how far out can you afford to have the speakers from the wall? Properly set up, the ML can be incredibly holographic and engaging, with a wide sweet spot. The 800D3 may be more analytical, with a much s...
3k Phono preamp upgrade options (JC3+, XP-17, etc)
To supplement @oranfoster, while the JC3+ For MC carts boasts a supposed >87db SNR, it’s unweighted SNR is 67db, which is louder in some frequencies than the record groove noise itself.
MoFi controversy
@atmasphere and anyone else who might know. You mentioned when you were cutting LPs: digital release files are compressed since there is an expectation they will be played in a car Is this still true today, especially for modern high resolutio...
Meitner MA3 amp/integrated suggestions
Daedelus speakers pair incredibly well with Modwright amps. Perhaps try to find a KWA-100SE on the used market, which would fall in your budget. I used to have a full Modwright stack, though have no professional affiliation with Dan Wright, and I ...
Meitner MA3 amp/integrated suggestions
Oliver makes some incredible gear! Given he focuses on low-powered / low noise designs, should we assume you have high efficiency speakers or are you still using the Definitive Technology BP-2004 as shown in your virtual system? And what size room...
Speaker positioning and center image depth
@audiokinesis Your post is thoughtful, and I appreciate that you have not (yet) redirected the conversation in any way to focus on how the role of subs can manipulate the stage (for better or worse), yet of course that is a whole other direction f...
Chord DAVE DAC
@jackhifiguy What is driving you to the Chord DAVE in the first place? If you have not heard it, what attributes have you heard about it that sound appealing? What kind of sound signature do you find most appealing, and what DAC would it be replac...

@sns Agree, especially when considering a tried and true design like the Cornwalls which are meant to be positioned in the corners. When you say meticulous attention, it sure does vary by speaker. Some speakers have incredibly small sweet spots, b...

@twoleftears That's what I thought. :)

@retiredfarmer Lots of great thoughts here, thanks for sharing. I love the Roger Waters Amused to Death album - I was only introduced to it in the last two years. Done properly, the first track "The Ballad of Bill Hubbard" has a full 180-degree wi...
Aeris speakers amp
@steveindy How big is your room? Properly powered, the Aeris should be able to fill a large room. That said, even with a solid amp, I would want at least two subs to help it fill the bottom end and improve the imaging across the board.

@wolf_garcia This thread is not about me seeking coaching, but sharing my experience and perspective in a way that I want to relate with others who may have experienced the same. If anything, perhaps I’m the one guilty of offering coaching, and if...
