You want a DAC that sounds *different.* What factor helps you find it?
@david_ten Well hopefully our search is over as our dollars are spent!
Need address to send Paypal credit/Synchrony Bank a demand letter
Sorry to hear. Most companies are required to add their mailing addresses to the legal pages of their website (Terms & Conditions and/or Privacy Policy), so that might be a good place to start.

Implementation of the analog stage Quality of the DAC’s clock Quality of the power supply Must have USB & AES inputs Ability to play both PCM and DSD Sturdiness of build and interior organization for isolation

@oddiofyl I’m glad you resolved your issue! Seeing your DAC’s specs, it seems it only is capable of converting up to 192Khz, so adjusting that setting makes sense. Regarding some not being able to discern streamer quality, I usually boil it down ...
Schiit Freya +
I have not tried that series of Rogue electronics, unfortunately. That said, it’s a 12au7 preamp. One recommendation, if you are capable of spending ~$3K on a preamp, is to look for a preowned PS Audio BHK preamplifier. Along with Vlad’s, it was t...

@mdrone I recall you asking about the Audio Mirror preamplifier in the past. That unit is leagues above the Freya+. I’ve owned the Freya as well as the Freya+. While the Freya+ was an improvement, it is still fairly fatiguing and isn’t even close ...
Recommendations for small desktop speakers under $1500
@bobelton Elac also makes the smaller debut, but it won’t sound as resolving or full. I need no sub for the UBR62. Yes it is big, but it can sound holographic and I just have them a few inches from the wall directly behind my desk. I do have a lar...
Recommendations for small desktop speakers under $1500
I tried many speakers, including the LSX, and felt that I wanted more. If your desk is big enough to have it, I recommend looking at the Elac UBR62. They are usable down to 40hz and are front ported, so they will image better than other rear porte...
Spectron Musician III MK2... what's next?
Spectron was really good in its day, but Class D has come even farther than Spectron was pushing. Many of the diy amp kits will net you good results, but if you can afford to invest more, there are some excellent Class D amps on the market from no...

Great to hear!
DAC suggestions
I wouldn’t characterize T+A DAC 8 as bloomy either. There is a nice liquidity perhaps, that makes it a very natural, engaging and soulful DAC in delivery but detail and separation are still leading characteristics. And yes, the T+A DAC 200 is def...

Well, I surely hope it gets repaired. But for anyone who has an N200 or is thinking about one and is also looking for a DAC to pair it with, I have said before and I’ll say again that my favorite match is the T+A DAC 200. In addition to being a st...

I just received another N200 for a local customer today and will be opening it for him to install the hard drive he had me pair it with (2TB Samsung EVO). Steve - I know the Aurender can see other drives on the network, but I haven’t tried to mak...

Glad to see you got the D-750 already, and I’m sorry to hear the N200 and your DAC are not playing together nicely. Do you happen to have a toslink cable? I think maybe one was included with the N200. If you try that and it works, then the SPDIF i...

@oddiofyl What coax cable are you using? Also, are you switching sample formats often? If so there is a setting to allow to adjust for that and put a few second delay. Doing that sometimes helps to adjust for the switching.
