Recommendations for small desktop speakers under $1500 I tried many speakers, including the LSX, and felt that I wanted more. If your desk is big enough to have it, I recommend looking at the Elac UBR62. They are usable down to 40hz and are front ported, so they will image better than other rear porte...
Spectron Musician III MK2... what's next? Spectron was really good in its day, but Class D has come even farther than Spectron was pushing. Many of the diy amp kits will net you good results, but if you can afford to invest more, there are some excellent Class D amps on the market from no...
Aurender N200 Great to hear!
DAC suggestions I wouldn’t characterize T+A DAC 8 as bloomy either. There is a nice liquidity perhaps, that makes it a very natural, engaging and soulful DAC in delivery but detail and separation are still leading characteristics. And yes, the T+A DAC 200 is def...
Aurender N200 Well, I surely hope it gets repaired. But for anyone who has an N200 or is thinking about one and is also looking for a DAC to pair it with, I have said before and I’ll say again that my favorite match is the T+A DAC 200. In addition to being a st...
Aurender N200 I just received another N200 for a local customer today and will be opening it for him to install the hard drive he had me pair it with (2TB Samsung EVO). Steve - I know the Aurender can see other drives on the network, but I haven’t tried to mak...
Aurender N200 Glad to see you got the D-750 already, and I’m sorry to hear the N200 and your DAC are not playing together nicely. Do you happen to have a toslink cable? I think maybe one was included with the N200. If you try that and it works, then the SPDIF i...
Aurender N200 @oddiofyl What coax cable are you using? Also, are you switching sample formats often? If so there is a setting to allow to adjust for that and put a few second delay. Doing that sometimes helps to adjust for the switching.
Why aren’t there many used cables on the market? @curiousjim The only USB A to B I have is the DH Labs Mirage. It is just as good as the one I sold which cost about 10x more.
Why aren’t there many used cables on the market? @curiousjim Skip the AQ Carbon and go with a DH Labs Mirage USB. The Carbon is very dull and closed in in comparison. To the OP, there are only a few brands of cables that will offer dealers that kind of profit margin, the majority of cable manuf...
Bill Evans Riverside Recordings Box Set is FINALLY IN STOCK!! Thank you for sharing. I am hesitating since it’s $900, but I know the moment I decide to pull the trigger it will be gone. If I wasn’t considering leaving vinyl completely, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them Facts known by most, not all. 1. Mobile Fidelity owns & distributes a number of audio brands: https://mofidistribution.com/our-brands/ 2. Mobile Fidelity is owned by Music Direct, who distributes and deals a whole lot more audio brands: http...
What measurements from the rear wall? Historically speaking, 3ft was generally from the front baffle to the back of the wall, but most if not everyone will agree that anything with rear-firing ports will benefit from having 3ft or more between the back of the speaker and the wall. You...
Linear power supply I’m a very big fan of Farad Super3 linear power supplies. They should offer one in the voltage that you need for your transport.
Dual Subwoofers? 2 subs are better than one, and 4 are better than 2. Charge the room correctly and you will be rewarded with much more than just better bass, but with added clarity across the frequency spectrum and an expanded soundstage that will immerse you int... |
