High efficiency desktop speakers How big is your desk? And is there a wall behind the desk or is it open? If you have a wall, you’ll want a front-ported speaker. Combined with high efficiency, your options will be limited. This might be a fun solution, I always wanted to try it, ...
Vintage Luxman receivers Luxman’s gear has always performed well, but their vintage gear from the 70s is much more sought after than their gear in the 80s. In the early 80s Tim de Paravicini already walked away from designing for Luxman, and Alpine bought them, and they n...
Aurender N200 @sdw Have you compared the N150 to the N200? If so, can you describe how notable are the differences sonically? I have heard both but as an Aurender dealer I’d love to hear a customer’s experiences with the two as I was just talking to someone els...
Walk me thru upgrading from my BS Node @poke33 Yes NAD streamers use BluOS for controlling streaming services just like the Node does. I resent the PM from yesterday as I saw your message on not having received it. Let me know if you get it. FWIW, I stay away from Hifi Rose product...
Legacy Audio Powerbloc 5 @kraftwerkturbo-tt225 both posts have links to specs.
Breaking in new speakers, what is your favorite music for this? @pdreher I have them as digital files looping through my Aurender, but not sure they’re available on streaming. There are a few other noise loop albums on Tidal and Qobuz though.
Why don't we tire of music? Some people get tired of listening to the same music. But your question touches on the balance between feeling and thinking. Most other media you mention largely requires more thought, except maybe reruns of sitcoms or comedy movies that people do...
Breaking in new speakers, what is your favorite music for this? +1 Stereo5 On top of that I also use the Ayre album Irrational but Efficacious album. The noise loops for hours even overnight at lower levels and then run the full glide tone track to tune up the system daily.
Power cable DH Labs Corona AC is my favorite for under $3K, and it “only” costs $950 for 5’. I’ve preferred it over the $2500 Shunyata NR series. Incredible proprietary shielding and counter-spiraled 10awg silver-coated oxygen-free copper conductors for nois...
NYC Audio Show 32nd street and Broadway I no longer live in NYC but if I did I’d go. I asked other folks I know there, and most said they wouldn’t be going this year. Let us know what stands out if you go.
Legacy Audio Powerbloc 5 Seems the PowerBloc 5 is a fairly dated unit. Two sites I came across showed it in manufacture from 2000-2001. Some specs and manual are published here: https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/legacy/powerbloc-5.shtml Back then Legacy was focu...
Walk me thru upgrading from my BS Node @poke33 The one thing I would suggest is that while great one box solutions exist, I would strongly recommend using an Ethernet connection over wireless if you decide to invest heavily in a digital source. Why? Because having the wifi in the unit ...
NODE as just a streamer / Airplay device @curiousjim That is a new feature with Bluesound being able to attach external drives, and it’s great to hear about. Thanks for sharing.
Aurender N200 Yeah you don’t need huge speakers for that space. La Scalas are massive, basically 24x24x36. The Volti have such a different sonic signature from Klipsch and features a bit more tonal richness so it will depend if that will work well with the rest...
Aurender N200 This is the first time I’m hearing of Toolshed gear, and I see they are in the next state over from me. I’ve loved the different SET amps as I had them over the years, but I’ve since moved on. @oddiofyl How big is your room? I’m a fan on full ra... |
