Cambridge Audio EDGE Electronics @edcyn I owned the CXN V2 in a second system a while back. It is not a bad unit for the price, but given my affinity for Dan Wright / Modwright, I was one of the first to get my CXN V2 upgraded with his tube analog output stage and linear power su...
IsoAcoustics Gaia vs the Titan series I’ve not heard the Auva Isolators, unfortunately. It’s hard to quantify the level of improvement, but Townshend further improves on what the Gaia brings. Better vibration management, which delivers a bit more clarity, in the microdetails and speed...
IsoAcoustics Gaia vs the Titan series I have used Isoacoustics footers on my speakers and components for over five years, and just two weeks ago I became an authorized dealer for them. The Gaia I will be fitting - no need to spend for the costlier Titan, though they may provide slight...
Why are speaker stands so expensive?! I’m not sure what you consider to be expensive, but I’m a big fan of Kanto SX22 and Kanto SX26 speaker stands. Both the 22” and 26” models come in black or white. There’s a lot I like about them. They are made of thick metal, and they can also ...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums Just to update the thread, I spent a good amount of time dialing things in last night. Only ver little needed to be done with positioning to get the best sound I’ve gotten out of my speakers with the Townshend Podiums. They are still on their sto...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums @alan60 The Seismic Bars are known not to provide the same level of weight distribution and stability as the Podiums, and as such, do not deliver the same level of performance. I was advised by John Hannant who is the primary distributor of Townsh...
Is 12'x12' too small for Magnepan 1.7's? Too small. With the 1.7i you really need at least 4-5’ of space behind them to enable them to breathe, otherwise they will not image well and will sound congested.
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums @aewarren I’m not sure if you read it but my speakers are bottom ported. While the Podiums have a set of small cutouts in its base, placing the speaker directly on the podium will block 80-90% of the bottom port. Also, have you seen the Townshend ...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums @carlsbad2 Well said. Yes, it seems that people across multiple forums unanimously agree the Townshend Podiums’ performance notably exceeds the IsoAcoustics Gaia footers. I did notice an improvement in clarity off the bat, though delineation/imagi...
Picking Speakers 20k-30k @brewerslaw Check your messages - I just sent some thoughts privately there. We’ve spoken a bit in the past few months.
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums @soix I did remove them and installed the stock spikes on the speakers and placed them on the Podiums. There was an improvement in high frequency articulation and clarity, but the tonal balance shifted as a result, and I will need to play with pos...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums @musicaddict The way I’m trying to make sense of it is that both of these solutions (Isoacoustics and Townshend Podiums) are decoupling solutions, which are a bit different from damping or typical absorption solutions. With decoupling, my understa...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums I just received a response from John Hannant who is the primary dealer for Townshend that the Isoacoustics footers will degrade the performance of the Podiums. Interesting! But I had a feeling that could be the case as two decouplers could have an...
Inexpensive streaming amplifier In agreement with Bluesound Powernode. I owned one in my NYC Queens apartment about a decade ago, used with Wharfedale 10.2 at some point before upgrading to other speakers. The Powernode Edge is a slimmed down version and doesn’t have HDMI. If ...
Ripping CD's to SSD? @fthompson251 I would prefer to rip to my local hard drive and then copy direct to the Aurender unit or to the thumb drive anyways. The reason for this is that the internal disk’s writing speed is much faster and reliable to ripping direct to a th... |
