T+A DAC 200 or WEISS 501
@milpai The DAC 200’s preamp / volume control can be bypassed and set to a line level output. Most of my customers use the DAC 200 in this way, and only a few I know are using it for its preamp capabilities. The preamp/volume control is really qui...
Aurender Conductor app reliability and user experience
I’m late to the game here. Aurender is a fairly solid experience, but it does not parallel or eclipse Roon as a user interface and experience. As mentioned above, there are some lack of capabilities (meta tag editing, lyrics, etc), but basic funct...
Your experience with Synergistic Research Foundation SX speaker cables?
I own them, and purchased them a little over a year ago. I’ve been a big fan of their products, and I finally just became a dealer for them about a month ago.  @tommylion The Galileo SX speaker cable is a very interesting cable. Compared to other...
T+A DAC 200 or WEISS 501
The DAC 200 can be set as a pure DAC as its volume control can be set to a line level output. I have demoed both and prefer the DAC 200, but take that as you will as I am a T+A dealer.  The DAC 200 has a wider bandwidth resulting in a wider, deep...
A previous discussion included a statement about crossover components.
I’ve done this for both speaker crossovers and tube electronics. My favorite caps tend to be one of the following depending on what I am trying to accomplish: Mundorf Silver Gold Oil Audience Auricap XO V-Cap Obbligato Gold or Ultra Premium ...
Primaluna EVO 400 pre amp
Fred - both units are actually quite good. The Primaluna will sound more articulate than the Modwright LS36.5, even with tube rolling, and the Modwright will deliver with more musicality and soul. If you are only being offered the 36.5 as stock a...
Modwright PH 9.0X Tube Rolling Question
@scm I didn’t have that upgrade when I had my PH9.0X, but Dan offered that rectifier tube and circuit with a lot of his other units, a few of which I owned. A rectifier-based power supply will deliver additional harmonics and remove any edge you m...
Cambridge Audio EDGE Electronics
@edcyn I owned the CXN V2 in a second system a while back. It is not a bad unit for the price, but given my affinity for Dan Wright / Modwright, I was one of the first to get my CXN V2 upgraded with his tube analog output stage and linear power su...
IsoAcoustics Gaia vs the Titan series
I’ve not heard the Auva Isolators, unfortunately. It’s hard to quantify the level of improvement, but Townshend further improves on what the Gaia brings. Better vibration management, which delivers a bit more clarity, in the microdetails and speed...
IsoAcoustics Gaia vs the Titan series
I have used Isoacoustics footers on my speakers and components for over five years, and just two weeks ago I became an authorized dealer for them. The Gaia I will be fitting - no need to spend for the costlier Titan, though they may provide slight...
Why are speaker stands so expensive?!
I’m not sure what you consider to be expensive, but I’m a big fan of Kanto SX22 and Kanto SX26 speaker stands. Both the 22” and 26” models come in black or white. There’s a lot I like about them. They are made of thick metal, and they can also ...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums
Just to update the thread, I spent a good amount of time dialing things in last night. Only ver little needed to be done with positioning to get the best sound I’ve gotten out of my speakers with the Townshend Podiums. They are still on their sto...
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums
@alan60 The Seismic Bars are known not to provide the same level of weight distribution and stability as the Podiums, and as such, do not deliver the same level of performance. I was advised by John Hannant who is the primary distributor of Townsh...
Is 12'x12' too small for Magnepan 1.7's?
Too small. With the 1.7i you really need at least 4-5’ of space behind them to enable them to breathe, otherwise they will not image well and will sound congested.
IsoAcoustics Gaia Footers AND Townshend Seismic Podiums
@aewarren I’m not sure if you read it but my speakers are bottom ported. While the Podiums have a set of small cutouts in its base, placing the speaker directly on the podium will block 80-90% of the bottom port. Also, have you seen the Townshend ...
