Adcom - A Good Value?? Auctions risky??
My own experience with Adcom is that they sound pretty much like sound reinforcement amps. Coupled to goodish speakers they're likely to be bright and tight--design considerations to help them cope with slow, tubby road speakers. They wouldn't be m...
Seeking advice re: complex power conditioning
Steve's suggestion is a good, if pricey one. Audition the Power Plant by all means, along with some others. I tend to be a skeptic about many things but clean power isn't one of them. VERY easy to demonstrate improvements. OTOH, in my opinion, any...
Optimum seats for a concert?
Anywhere but in the pit, where I sat for a number of years. Down there, where many players now wear earplugs to protect their hearing, one is highly focused on production but inattentive to the overall sound, which one cannot really hear, anyway.T...
Now something completely different
Gospel fave: "I wanna be a Jesus cowboy in the Holy Ghost corral.""I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back in my bed, dear, cryin' over you.""I'm at the corner of Walk and Don't Walk.""The bridge washed out. and I can't swim, and my baby's...
What time do you wear?
What an incredibly revealing thread.

I will vote for The HP when he acknowledges that the word is "continuity" and NOT "continuousness."
TAS new look-the end is near?
Good points, rcprince, I'll try to be more tolerant. I really do not like the man's supercilious attitude, as though he, and he alone, had ears. That being said, TAS is the only current mag that I find myself reading through from kivver to kivver....
TAS new look-the end is near?
I don't know that what TAS has done is all that awful. They're trying to survive in a niche market, after all. It wasn't going to last as a temple to the ego of (all genuflect) The HP. And, when you think about it, is having reviewers that can onl...
Dented Tweeter?
Years ago, my luvable thug of a godson dented the dustcap on the lf driver of a KEF 103. I called KEF to order a replacement. Their advice: Bend the tip of a needle to 90 degrees. Gently pierce the dust cap near the center of the dent and, using t...
Help with new speakers
I agree with Brulee, your initial choices should work very well. I assume you have considered good earphones? A friend of mind with substantial hearing loss was thrilled when he discovered good Sennheisers.
Help needed to make processor decision.
Hmmmmm....this is an interesting thread but it began with a request for help in taming over-bright tweeters. Have you considered that the problem is with the speakers? I'm not an NHT fan and have never heard any of their models that didn't seem to...
What's your profession? Age?
56, psychotherapist, research methodologist, and independent catholic bishop. Iconoclastic; never met a sacred cow I didn't want to tip. I don't suffer fools gladly and I have zero tolerance for people who have all the answers.
Anybody Heard Belles350a replacing a rogue 88
I cannot compare to the Rogue because I haven't really heard it. I can tell you, though, that my experience with the 350A has been quite different from Bob's. I use it with my beloved Mezzo Utopias and I chose it in part because, in my system, it ...

Quick, hand cellorover a towel. He's gotta be bleeding after THAT shot.
Need help for wife acceptance
If you discover sound AFTER you discover She Who Must Be Obeyed, you're potentially in very deep dookey. If you discovered sound before you met Divine Creature Of My Dreams, explain clearly, "This is who I am; this is what I do." And then never, ne...
