Safe audiogon transactions; lowering the bar.
Driver, I understand your point of view but I cannot agree. The refusal of a seller to accept COD payment is, to me, a much larger red flag than my insistence that it be the means of payment. COD has some disadvantages and, yes, fraud is possible....
getting a little obsessed with my first purchase
Agree that the old Snells would be a good choice if you have the room. They won't do HT, though.Listen long to those DefTechs before you buy. They do OK for HT (though even there you can do better for the money) but they will burn your ears out on...

The higher-end JM Labs are not warm but rather intensely accurate. As someone noted a few posts back, too accurate for some tastes. For warm and musical I would agree with Anne: Sonus Faber.Besides which, you get that gorgeous cabinetry.
Home Theatre Software: Insulting?
Doug's message brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department....I love boomies if the have some decent story line and character development. Alas, for every Das Boot we seem to have 6,000 U-571s.
Safe audiogon transactions; lowering the bar.
I've done few transactions on a-gon but have bought tons of stuff on ebay. Certainly the culture there is that the seller is entitled to call all the shots. Some sellers burden you with screen after screen of their personal rules and regulations. ...
7500 for USED cables? Are they joking?
Since I replaced the lead sinkers on my fishing line with high quality ferrites I've caught more fish and bigger fish. More importantly, they taste fresher, without any haze or glare to obscure the fine nuances of flavor. Overall grain and harshne...
New gear from Parasound???
Yeah, that's the JC-1 (odd choice of name given the old JC-2 that Curl designed for Levinson). That got some attention at CES and has been talked about a bit. There's also an elusive rumor about an update to the 2500U processor, which is getting lo...
Any good gear made in Taiwan?
Thanks for the info. I thought Marsh amps were made in Thailand. Anyone else?
calling all audiophiles
I think the only way to find out is to try it and listen. Down here in the lightning capital of the world, we have little choice but to use surge protectors so it becomes a matter of finding what works best.In contrast to Brulee's blanket statemen...
How do Newforms sound?
Hey folks!Fiddler, I appreciate your clarification, as well as what we have communicated privately. Also, Tubegroover, your points are well taken and I appreciate them, too.I guess I didn't make myself clear, leading people to jump to wrong conclu...
How do Newforms sound?
Pull your throttle back a little, Fiddler.I'm sure we are all pleased to learn of your affluence but that is beside the point. It is a simple fact of life that people either like what they buy or they get rid of it. Thus, most people who post to sp...
Sequerra monitor
Thanks for the clarification. It is the NFM Pro that interests me.
TAS new look-the end is near?
Do you mean that TAS is beginning to lose continuousness? Perhaps it will then lose pompositiousness, as well.
How do Newforms sound?
I'm grateful for the input; please keep it coming. I'm not much given to relying on opinions from owners' groups--they have a vested interest in liking what they bought. And the opinions offered on sites like audioreview often lack weight and expe...
I need to be wowed
A couple of things bother me here. First, your constraints about speaker placement. Given the number of dollars you already have invested and the additional dollars you are prepared to invest, I'd strongly urge you to be more flexible about speake...
