LFE or L&R connections If this is a surround sound receiver with limited bass management you can use the L/R pre out to sub and set front to large. This gives you more tweekability in the bass. The LFE input of a sub is going to play whatever the receiver tells it to, by...
What to buy I would replace the speakers. If you like lotsa bass try something like the Von Schweikert VR-3 or VR-4. Keep the Acurus stuff even if it just gets relegated to second system status.
strange sounds on rvg recordings/ or i'm crazy Most of the RVG remasters are great. If you want to hear some first rate mumbling on a jazz recording try most anything from Charles Mingus. Oscar Peterson sings along almost like a scat-man sometimes. I think it is really cool and find it much mo...
Rotel RA 972 or NAD 320BEE Power specs on teh c352 are almost identical to the C320. I have both units here in the store and while both perform very well at their given price-points the C320 is a bigger bang for the buck.
Rotel RA 972 or NAD 320BEE The NAD is a good amp on it's own but has main-in/pre-out so that you can bypass either the amp or the preamp in the future. Good way to upgrade slowly.
Opinion: Denon DP-S1, DA-S1, Benchmark DAC1 What is teh Denon receiver for (tuner?)? You can pickup the old CAL DAC's for relatively little money.
Confused and out of touch a little over my CD play A good CD player without SACD or HDCD playback capabilities will sound better than a "universal" unit that does everything but nothing well. Modified units are risky buisness and not worth the time/money/effort when there are already great stock p...
Speaker Wire for a non-anal listener Installation wire from local hi-fi shop sounds pretty good. 16/4 OFC for each speaker. Doubled this makes for a large awg. Allows for bi-wire configuration. Cheap as heck ($0.50/ft). No special connectors to add to complications in signal path. Si...
Perfect Soundtrack for Stylish Sunday Lunch? Good mix for any occassin where conversation should come before entertainment is blues, jazz, Motown with more jazz than blues or Motown. Not distracting but involving and fun with the ability to loosen up stuffed shirts in awkward stituations. Ca...
Sony LCD projetion screen TV screen spot Sony's motto:We're not happy until you're not happy.Good luck to all.
Can I bi-wire from my sub woofer? Better set-up is to have speaker cable from amp to speakers. THen have another speaker cable going from amp to sub. The sub will not present any significant load for the amplifier as it is a powered sub. This will make for as little interaction be...
Sony LCD projetion screen TV screen spot The part that you will need to replace will cost about $2,200 (almost as much as the TV). If it is still under warranty Sony will send a tech to replace free of charge after you spend two hours on the phone with an opperator in India. If it is not...
Need your pre-amp advice NAD has a pre-pro that is easy to use/set-up and sounds very good. It is a big bang for the buck and would give you a good mid-fi platform to build from if you wanted to start replacing other components. Sounds better than the B&K.
Need Ambient Speakers to Hang in Corners. Really NHT SB3. Omni-Mount makes the 20.0 bracket that the SB3 is pre-taped for. THis bracket uses a ball-and-socket type joint so that the speaker can be pivoted any which way. Speaker responds down to 39Hz which will let it blend well with your sub.Von...
Inexpensive/solid 2-channel amp for rear speakers? New Parasound 275. Old Parsound HCA-750. Modest price, built well, sound good. |
