Don’t buy used McCormack DNA 1990s amps
@soix I was responding to you original post "Because their input board is at the end of its useful life, and when it fails your amp is dead and not repairable by anyone — not even SMcAudio."  But I am always available to help anyone who needs repa...
Please tell me the wait will be work it......my rack
Interesting enough, we use a piece of junk in our listening room with brick walls, we have no complaints from reviewers, or people who come to hear equipment in our Listening Room.  Go Figure.
Seeking DAC using the ESS ES9038PRO, but not a streamer
@big_greg Sabre chips are not bright, it is the design that makes them sound that way.   @yada I could probably build a DAC to your specifications you can PM me for details.  Happy Listening.

@soix - you cannot say that the board cannot be repaired by anyone.  Do you do repair work yourself?  Any product can be repaired unless the parts cannot be identified or there are no replacement parts available.  That being said, you do not have ...
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors?
The power capacitors in the power supply and in the other areas of the power supply usually begin to swell up and then that is a pretty good sign to replace them.  The other reason to replace them is sound quality.  I just recently upgraded the po...
Dac Upgrade
get the Halo and send it to me to upgrade.  It will better anything mentioned above by some large margin.  Since my company builds reference audio components you need to tell us what type of sound you like otherwise all the recommendations are use...
Amp for Vandersteen 2ci
I can repair upgrade any audio component.  If I was you, try and find an old BEL power amplifier class A.  They sound amazing in stock form and can be upgraded for even better sonic improvement.  I would also consider a Counterpoint power amp.  Th...
Treble and Tweeter trends over the past few decades
It depends on what model amplifiers from each manufacturer you used.  CJ was always on the warm sounding but usually lacked details.  Some of the older Audio Research amplifiers like the D-79B amplifiers were really good back in the day and with u...
DAC recommendations
My recommendation is to send your tube DAC to me for upgrading.  There are plenty of parts options that can be used to change the sound to what you are looking for.  Stop chasing gear.  Happy Listening.
I have NOVA V's and I am not happy
Stop using cables as tone controls.  The Sonus are in no way bright sounding speakers.  It is not the room either.  It is the equipment you are using.  We have Vivid speakers in our Listening Room with a brick wall behind them.  No room treatments...
Best digital format (non streaming)
As a manufacturer, the transport and DAC still sound better than any streaming device we have tested.  It is close though and getting closer.  What we found for better sound quality is the equipment.  I can modify a transport (CDP) and DAC, but we...
Who says studio monitors are "cold and analytical"?
I am wondering to myself after reading this is how many hear know a sound engineer?  My buddy did all the sounding engineering at Sony for many years until he retired.
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors?
@immatthewj - yes go up a size.  Make sure that they will fit first.  Mitsubishi caps are also good for the power supply, they usually run a little smaller.  Next option is Michael Percy Audio. PM me with any questins.
Which mono power amp would you choose and why?
@alucard19 - not sure what power you are looking for but watts mean nothing.  I just finished upgrading a Spectral power amp.  To me it was nothing special and rather boring in stock form.  Once upgrading the amplifier, it was another level that I...
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors?
In my experience, replacing the parts in the power supply section with better parts quality yields a sonic improvement.  Last night we finished a Spectral power amplifier in stock form was nothing special.  Replaced the two large PS caps with Nich...
