Which components knocked you out on first listen?
Krell power amps way back when with B&W 801's cooking. Also the Hovland HP-100 preamp, sounds like music.
Best blues today
Jay Giles (yeah that guy)and Magic Dick should have won best blues record of the year a few years back. Real Chicago Blues. The CD is call Blues Time, buy it and thank me later. Also Gregg Alman form the Brothers had one out about two years ago tha...
Power cord recommendation for Transcendent T8 OTL
What are you looking for in a cord, more dynamics, details, frequency extension, etc. The AZ Tsunami worked well on my Pass Labs making it sound more relaxed and detailed than the Audience. JPS power AC is a good cord for the used prices and is a ...
Review: Acoustic Zen Tsunami Power cord
Shasta,All of the cables were fully broken in. I have not tried the Audience on the Sony or BAT preamp yet because I just did not get around to. It is on my list of To Do's but not enough time recently. The Synergistic I sent back to the dealer al...
Audio Research vs. Conrad Johnson SS Amps??
Forget the CJ SS amp and look for a used Sim Audio or McCormack DNA-225. If you prefer a tube sound and have speakers that work well with a tube amp, the ARC is very good in its price point.
B&W 804 nautilus OR Revel f30
Both offer a different sound. Go read reviews of each speaker and you will find out for yourself. The B&W speakers in general do not sound good with poor equipment. They need high current amps to make them sing, more so with the matrix series....
Musical Fidelity Experts needed..
I compared the Nu-Vista integrated to the Rowland M-112 power amp and MF preamp and the Rowland blew the MF away. The MF while being very musical does not have the details that the Rowland had (which I prefer) and the Rowland sounded a lot faster....
DC Leakage and dealer issues
Sean & Zaikesman,Thanks for your replies. I can always count on both of you to give honest opinions even if someone does not agree with them. I emailed the same thing to the designer about why I should pay the repair and how come the second am...
Review: Audio Research LS-25 mkII Tube preamp
Thanks Zaikesman for your comments and I wanted to let everyone know that it was at a dealer in their set up system, but none the less, my BAT got beat in dynamics. We also used the Musical Fidelity NuVista CD player and got the same exact results...
Speakers 2K- 3K range used or new
Thanks so far for all the posts. To answer some questions, I have known my friend Bill for 40 years, we are very close. When he heard my system which is still on the move daily, he asked me for some assistance. So I posted to get some ideas. Bill ...
Anyone heard the Pass x.2.5?
Contact Perrotta consulting in NY and he is jsut getting the 2.5 in. He let me audition the Pass X-250 am for aroung 4 weeks which I eventually bought.Peter
Audio Research LS-16 vs. BAT VK-30
I compared the BAT VK-30SE to the ARC LS-25 MKII in a system that consisted of the ARC CD-3, Plinius 102 (newest version) and B&W 802N speakers with Kimber Cable and the ARC outperfromed my BAT in sound stage, bass definition and more dynamic....
Upgrading VTL 2.5 pre-amp to: CAT, BAT, or ARC?
I just compared my BAT VK-30SE to the ARC LS-25 MKII a few days ago and the ARC bettered my BAT in sound stage, slightly better bass definition and better dynamics. The BAT seemed to compress or limit the dynamics versus the 25. Don't get me wrong...
ARC REF1 VS REF 2 MKII
I compared the two ARC preamps 11-20-02 and the ref pre bettered the LS-25 MKII in sound stage and dynamics slightly, but the over all presentation was smoother and a little more tube like where the 25 is very natural but non forgiving. I preferre...
