Counterpoint SA3000 Any Good ?
It would almost cost more to build one than to buy another used one. If you want to sell you unit as is let me know. I am on the alta vista audio website bigkidz@optonline.net
Somers Point NJ
Spent some time at those places myself with a group of friends that I still hang out with. The Anchorage use to serve seven, 7 oz beers for one dollar (Pabst Blue Ribbon never tasted so good!). The Juke box played whole lotta love, and Dion's Run ...
Counterpoint 5.1- Beyond My Comprehension
You may also want to mod the power supply to a pure tube set-up.
Counterpoint 5.1- Beyond My Comprehension
If you want to get it up and running either email JWu or myself from the Alta Vista website. JWu is in CA and I am in NJ.
Counterpoint 5.1- Beyond My Comprehension
Same as what JWu said. One big improvement with the SA-5000 is the Direct In modification. I found that the sound stays close to what you hear now except the sound opens up and is clearer like using windex on your windows. It takes so much time to...
Counterpoint - Alta Vista - Mike Elliott
If you want to contact Johnsonwu or myself go to the Alta Vista Audio website and email me directly for repairs, etc. I will provide any help I can for repairing any of your Counterpoint components. I will consider shipping to Europe if you prefer.
Top resistors
Very interesting comments. I have tried in a DHT preamp the Audio Note, Shinkoh, Takman, Riken and Amtran resistors. They all sound different. I prefer the Shinkoh for a more realistic and natural. The metal film was more lively and open compared ...
Review: Herron VTSP-3A R02 Linestage
Dodgealum I would love to hear the new components in your system. I was the person who brought over the preamp about a year or so ago. I have a new version that I would like youto hear also.Let me know if have some time. Peter 973-487-6619.
Rowland Model 112 or Simaudio Moon W5
The Rowland was a warmer sounding unit in the system I heard it in. The Sim sounded more extended top and bottom and lacked a little sweetness in the mid-range in direct comparison. Either amp is excellent.
Melos 202 could use some servicing...
Did you try contacting Mark to see what he has available? I am in New Jersey and could take a look at the amp if you are close by. Email me at Vujadeaudio@optimum.net
Counterpoint 5.1- Beyond My Comprehension
Johnsonwu is correct. The Counterpoint regulators seem to be an issue now that the units are getting older. Either Johnson or myself can repair the Counterpoint units and we are both listed on the Alta Vista Website.Happy Listening.
Anyone else tried the Acoustic Systems Liveline?
The preamp in Pani's system uses metal film resistors & metallized polypropylene capacitors plus an Alps volume control. I have never heard on but based on my experience so far, the metal film resistors are used for speed and clarity with an A...
ASI Liveline...Burn-In Experience
The problem with threads like this (as I have stated before) is that the person starting the thread does not provide system information. That way I could possible understand why something interacts in a particular system. I am no expert but I reme...
PreAmp recomendation please...
Try the Coincident preamp direct heated triode. IMO nothing can beat them.
Switching preamps in and out
You are joking right? If you have to swap them out so fast to tell the difference then there is probably not much difference. You need to play music that you are familiar with or that highlights different instruments or vocals and listen for a whi...
