New KT150 tubes?
Was just trolling on the Upscale Audio website and noticed they are listing the KT-150 for $92 per tube. I also checked NewSensor's posted stats for the KT-120 and KT-150. The KT-120 filament draw ranges from 1.75 to 1.95 amps. In contrast, the KT...
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Unsound ... I found that same point confusing too, especially in light of ML's recommendation to use an amp that increases power as speaker impedance drops. That sounds like a Voltage Paradigm/SS amp. But our other "enthusiastic" techie members wo...
Revel F208s vs Cremona M vs B&W 803/804 D
Aman ... kudos on your hard work. You have much more patience than me. I would appreciate reading your reactions if you get around to checking out the Paradigm S8s. One reviewer with whom I have traded e mails some time ago thought the S8s and Rev...

I agree with the following reviews: For example, look at this Tone Magazine review:http://www.tonepublications.com/review/paradigm-reference-signature-s8-loudspeaker/And also Marc Mickelson's review in The Audio Beat:http://www.theaudiobeat.com/eq...
Emotiva XPA-5 vs. Parasound A51?
Sorry Aman. My last post was intended to be in your thread asking for advice about Revel vs Cremona vs B&W speakers. I reposted my comments there. So please ignore the post above.

Aman, let me be a spoiler of sorts. There's currently an A'gon auction running for a pair of Paradigm Tributes. The current bid is around $3K+, but the reserve has not been met.I heard the Tributes last year at a dealer while comparing an A'gon fa...

ARC Ref CD-8 compared to CD-6 and/or Ref CD-9
Refreshing this thread. Still looking for comments.
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Jan, please re-read my non-tech take 2 or 3 posts north of this post. What you describe is exactly the effect of using NF -- the amp compensates for the output voltage drop based on the amount of NF applied to increase the output voltage to compen...
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Thanks Al. My apologies for the numerous typos in my last post. I was typing with my laptop literally on my lap, drinking coffee with one hand and typing with the other hand. Truly a multi-handed effort. That aside, I wanted to say that this has be...
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Al and Ralph, I read the article that George kindly provided. I also re-read the posts at the link Al provided. I think Al correctly states that there is a bit of friction caused by the use of terminology. I was looking for, but didn't find the po...
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Thanks George. I looked at the review and picked up the following concluding statement that "[t]he Manley's output impedance [1.5 ohms], while not unusually high for a tube amp, is still high compared with typical solid-state designs, and may ther...
Tube Amp for Martin Logan Speakers
Capdek, glad to read that your Manley amp does the job. Just curious, do you know what the output impedance of the amp is? Does the amp have different taps? I ask about taps because you mention it's ultra-linear.

Tom, you quote the ML manual as advising that "an ideally stable amplifier will typically be able to deliver nearly twice its rated wattage into 4 Ohms and should again increase into 2 Ohms."My take-a-way is that ML recommends using a rock-solid s...

Thanks for the update Tsushima. Hopefully Gary (Hifigeek) will catch this thread and post another ARC update on status.
