Heads-Up: ARC introducing new G Series
Phil,Here's a few snippets from your "What's Best Forum" link:"I think we are seeing the demise of ARC as we have known it, not saying its bad, just a significant change in direction. Hold on to the ARC gear you have and purchase now because you n...
New KT150 tubes?
Gary ... I don't like to guess or talk about stuff above my pay grade. So, I checked the New Sensor web site and copied the following specs: KT-120Plate resistance - 3000 ohmsHeater characteristics - 1.70 to 1.95 APlate current – 135 to 165 mAPlat...
New KT150 tubes?
Gary, my non-tech instinct (surmise) is that the KT-150 should be a drop in option for ARC's current Ref series amps (75, 150, 250 and 750). I base this conjecture on the following facts: (1) the KT-150 plate draw is just a few milli-amps more tha...
Speaker hum problem - need help
Please report back tomorrow after you short the inputs. There's a couple of other switch-outs you can try, but I caution you that if everything else fails ... its the tin foil hat for you.
Heads-Up: ARC introducing new G Series
Bojack, if the GSi75 is made up of all reference grade components, the pricing may not be too bad because there's a DAC function too. For example, if the GSi75 also has a headphone amp and/or a phono pre, then all the better. Putting together a li...
Speaker hum problem - need help
Al, ... any thoughts about the tin foil hat idea? :)@Matt, Al's suggestion to check the ground socket hole is a cheap and quick way to confirm that your socket is properly grounded. If Al's idea is negative, I'd move on to his other suggestions. B...
Speaker hum problem - need help
Good point Drubin. I wonder if the OP's problem might be helped if he used shorting caps on all of the amp's inputs, except for source inputs that are being used. Almost seems like the amp, through ambient inductance, is picking up a 60 cycle sign...
New KT150 tubes?
Here's some pics:www DOT theaudiobeat.com/highend2014/highend2014_arc.htmGary, TAB says the new models "are 'reimagined' versions of current models." Do you know yet if the G series incorporates new or improved technology, other than the KT-150 tu...
New KT150 tubes?
I just started a new thread where I report on ARC's new G series. I have a URL x-ref to where you can see pics and prices. It's a new "higher-end" series which is priced higher than the "normal" Reference product equivalent analogues; namely: the ...
New KT150 tubes?
Gary (Hifigeek), does the G series employ some new technology? Or is it some type of super reference amp designed to mate with the Ref 10 and Ref Phono 10??
New KT150 tubes?
Gary (Hifigeek), I caught that pic too. Just a peek though. What's with all the suspense??
New VPI 3D Arm
Stringreen, send a private e mail to Jonathan Carr. He has always been upfront about his carties. All I can say is that my modest Kleos is a great cartridge. I can't even imagine just how good the Atlas or Etna must be.
REL Subs with ARC Ref series amps
Thanks and glad to read that you're having such a great result. You may want to share your story with Kal or Chris at ARC. Your REL/Ref 250 tap hook-up is an interesting solution and other ARC owners may benefit if Kal and Chris learn about your h...
New VPI 3D Arm
Stringreen ... my vinyl rig is centered on a VPI Classic plinth, with a Classic 3 tonearm/wand upgrade. The Lyra Kleos is my primary cartridge. IMO, it's a magical combination. It's hard to imagine that vinyl can get much better. But I guess based...
REL Subs with ARC Ref series amps
Phil ... glad to read that you were able to hook up your sub with good results. Your tale is somewhat similar to my situation when I tried to hook up my self powered Paradigm sub woofer to my former Ref 3 (now 5 SE). I went the impedance buffer ro...
