Graham LS5/5: considered impressions after three months of ownership...
Thanks for the fine and thorough review of the LS5/5's. That must have been quite the difficult to decision to give up 26 years of listening to the SP100 for a speaker you couldn't even audition.
Salk Sound Encore 3 or Totem Wind
The Encores do tight bass really well. They're fast, non-boxy sounding speakers that weigh 100+ lbs each. I never had problems with boomy bass regardless of the room they were in. I appreciated that they were fairly easy to place also and not huge...
Ideal USB cable length, streamer to DAC?
Someone on another forum whose name shall not be mentioned here tested a bunch and found the ideal length was the shortest possible. I believe the best was actually a USB-A connector attached directly to a USB-B but that's obviously not doable for...
Help. System sounds thin and bright or harsh
Scott, @verdantaudio, mentioned it above. Swap components out.  Doesn't the Oppo have volume control? Or does it get disabled with the mods? If it still has the volume control remove the preamp and see how it sounds using the Oppo as the "preamp"....
Valve amplification vs Pass labs
Pass is a pretty easy brand to get home trials of in the US. What country are you in? I'm not a big fan of the Pass sound but I think I'm in the minority. One member on this board says everyone should listen to Pass, Ayre and I can't remember the ...
Roon….can anyone point me to “human” tech support
For the money they charge their support is abysmal. What issues are you having? Maybe some here could help? Audiogon should start a "support" forum and offer sales credits for answers that are deemed helpful.
Innuos Pulsar - Some Interesting Info for Innuos Owners
I'm told Pulsar should be available in March for non-preorders and end of Feb for pre-orders.
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff?
If only @mahgister was around...he could give you quite a few "tips" on what to do while spending little money.  Your room may look like a mad scientist's den when you're done but you'd tick the not cost much box. I would try using the Sumiko Set...
And the best jazz albums of 2022 were…?
As @carlsbad said, quite a few newer jazz albums I try to listen to aren't relaxing at all. In fact, they make me tense. I listen to music to relax most of the time. I looked through Roon and see I added 26 albums Roon considers jazz and only 4 sh...
speaker cable question
I tried various Nordost speaker cables up to Heimdall along with the new Venom X and ended up liking the "regular" Venom in my system.  My previous cables were Reality Cables, an old mail order only brand.  The Venom were the only ones I liked bet...
 Streichmelodion ??
I was surfing Roon yesterday and found a band called Pepe Deluxé.  In the description of the band there was a mention of their fourth album, Queen of the Wave, using obscure instruments such as Edison's Ghost Machine and the Great Stalacpipe Organ...
 Streichmelodion ??
Equally amazing is that the piano is only 300 or so years old. Thanks for that! I didn't know it was that "new".
 Streichmelodion ??
Very cool. The other day I was listening to an album that some reviewer had mentioned called "Madar" with Jan Garbarek, Anouar Brahem and Ustad Shaukat Hussain. I wanted to know all the instruments seeing as it's pretty unique sounding and found t...
Underground radio station recommendations?
Here's a handful of streaming links to what you're looking for. I don't know if they're underground per se but they play more obscure stuff often. Frequence 3 - http://ice1.ikoula.net-radio.fr/frequence3urban.flac.m3u http://trap-high.rautemusik...
Question on PrimaLuna EVO 400 Amp: Fully Balanced (Differential), or No?
@zmann007 My dealer has that EVO 300 Hybrid. I've listened to it for many hours on multiple speakers and really, really enjoy it.  Congrats on the purchase!
