Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
Max Townshend uses an oscilloscope to display the effectiveness of his Seismic Isolators in a video viewable on You Tube. He gives a rap to the side of a speaker enclosure spiked to a concrete floor, then again with the speaker on his Isolators, t...

Orpheus---I had my A77 restored years ago (mid-90's), at the then location of Studer/Revox USA in Nashville. I bought it new in '73, so the cost involved was worth it to me. The longer you own a piece, the lower the year-to-year maintenance costs ...

Parts for the Revox A77 cost a small fortune.
How hard it is to replace the rca input on the shindo amplifier?
If you're close to Monrovia (just north of Pasadena), take it into Brooks Berdan Ltd. and have the shop's tech Tom do the soldering. He is very experienced with electronics, being a maintenance engineer for a Los Angeles TV station. He routinely w...
Is my amp the problem?
Another good x/o is the First Watt B4. All discrete (no opamps), zero feedback. More flexible than the Bryston, with far more available frequencies, and the highly-desirable 4th order-24dB/octave slope, which the Bryston does not provide. $1250 re...

Stuff like AC/DC and Weezer, great driving music. Pedal to the metal, baby!
Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
I’m no mechanical engineer, but I do know that a spring is an isolator starting about an octave above it’s "effective" resonant frequency. That frequency is determined by the spring rate and the mass placed upon the spring, such as a pre-amp. Max ...
Rolling Stones Mono Box Set (lp or cd)
drsteve, you are so right about semi-pro (or even amateur) recordings being better sounding than many commercially produced ones. I recorded the Jump Blues/Swing band I was playing in with a pair of omni condenser mics straight into a Revox A77 at...
Using tube amp with electrostatic speakers.
Damn oregonpapa, that is a BIG room! In the 80's I heard the Acoustat 1+1, 2+2, Three, and Four driven by ARC (D-75 and D-150), but they can use all the power they can get. Same with Maggies, of course.  I'll be setting up a pair of Tympani T-IV's...
When will there be decent classical music recordings?
ptss, I wish more companies put a polarity reversal switch on their pre-amp(s). Ralph at Atma-Sphere is one of the few. And a mode switch (stereo/reverse/mono/left/right) too.
Do equipment stands have an impact on electronics?
Robert, the drum suspension system I referred to is called R.I.M.S., the letters standing for Resonance Isolation Mounting System. An L.A. studio drummer named Gauger invented and introduced them in 1980, and licensed the manufacturing rights firs...
Tube dampeners on ARC gear ... FREE TWEAK
Yep, that's a good one oregonpapa. I believe I have every J.S. Bach title HM put out. Some on LP and CD, which I haven't gotten around to a/b'ing yet. They have a world-class roster of Baroque specialists.
Tube Amp vs Solid State Amp HELP
What good tube amps are known for is making music "seem more interesting" ;-)
