The value of of the sealed record.
I've known quite a few people who had multiple copies of favorite albums, one opened for playing and one (or more) left sealed for down the road. When I started hitting all the small mom 'n' pop drug stores in the late 60's looking for monaural ve...
Vibraplane 2212
Have you looked at the MinusK products? I believe they offer larger-sized isolation platforms.
Magnepan 3.7 - 3.7i owners need help please
The subject of 3.6 vs 3.7 (i and non-i versions) has been discussed quite a bit over at the Planar Speaker Asylum and MUG (Magnepan Owners Group). The 3.7 has a very different crossover than the 3.6, and requires different orientation (toe-in) in ...
Your Favorite Cover Songs?
The Remains! Good one Slaw. I’ve always loved The Beau Brummels’ version of the Don Gibson classic "Oh Lonesome Me", which I much prefer to Neil Youngs odd take on the song. I recently for the first time heard Marshall Crenshaws recording of Dylan...
Austin Texas area Audio folks?
You Austinites are fortunate to be in the same town as Ryhtmik Audio, maker of one of the best lines of subs available. You can acquire them without paying for shipping!
Best value record cleaner/cleaning system
Bradf was considerate enough to email me links to information about the "budget-priced" CleanerVinyl version of an osmosis cleaner. At around $700 for the 12-LP version, I do believe I'm gonna get me one!
New in 2017
Rodney Crowell has a new album ("Close Ties") due the end of the month that I’m looking forward to. He has really grown into one of our premier artists imo.
Owens Corning 703 vs. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound?
That's great to know aux. Both Acoustimac and ATS offer their DIY panel frames with or without back panels. Without it is!
Subpanel/Isolation Transformer/Dedicated Lines
Oh, and if you have any interest in Hard Country, Western Swing, etc. music Bill, I heartily recommend Austin’s The Cornell Hurd Band. Cornell is an old friend of mine who has been playing in the Austin Honky Tonks since moving there in the late 7...
Subpanel/Isolation Transformer/Dedicated Lines
Congratulations on the house Bill! If you can find a pair of the original Quad II power amps, they are great with the Quad 57. A contemporary amp that’s even better with them is the Music Reference RM-10, a beauty of an amp---Eric.
High quality interconnects - bargain price
Guitar Center also sells Mogami Gold balanced cables, commonly used in recording studios with microphones. They are fitted with Neutrik XLR jacks, and are dirt cheap, like $55 for a single 15' cable. Great for subs, if nothing else.
Owens Corning 703 vs. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound?
Thanks a million Spencer. Yeah, I've seen Ethan, an objectivist, and some subjectivists get into squabbles on other sites. He's a "If you can't prove it with measurements, it doesn't exist" kinda guy. That's fine with me when it comes to acoustics...
Owens Corning 703 vs. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound?
The amroc program is exactly where I learned of all the modes/nodes in a room! What a great aid in understanding what's going on in any size room, and where acoustic treatment will give the most results. I hadn't seen Ethan Winers article, so than...
New Ikea storage unit great for LP's!
I have only a few special boxsets taller than 12-7/8", the interior height of the EKET. Anyone contemplating purchasing them can measure their LP’s to see if 12-7/8" will do. As for weight capacity, the EKET seems sturdier to me than does the Kall...
Owens Corning 703 vs. Roxul Safe 'n' Sound?
All good points, guys. My desire to get some absorption of lower frequencies at the listening position originates from having read that bass modes/nodes build up at not just room corners (though that is where they are most prominent), nor not just...
