Is tonearm cable the most important cable in the system ? I don’t know yet Steve, the arm just left the UK yesterday. It will be here in about a week. I too am an admirer of Jeff Spall’s Audiomods Arm, one I recommend anyone in the market for a very high-value pickup arm at least checkout. I would rather...
Is tonearm cable the most important cable in the system ? Steve (williewonka), I happen to have just done that. I had Vic at Trans-Fi install a pair of the KLEI Absolute Harmony RCA’s (that I sent him) on the ends of the 1-piece silver loom with which he wired the Terminator Arm he was making me---Eric.
RCA Caps whart, it's always a cause for concern when the original owner of a company sells it. Even more so when the owner was deeply involved in the design of his company's products, as was Bill Johnson in ARC's. I know some hardcore tube guys who feel AR...
Lee Ann Womack Dang rpeluso, I didn't realize you are into Americana (my preferred term for the genre) as much as I! I will definitely give Lee Ann another chance, I may have been too hasty.
RCA Caps James, there is a real good chance that true shorting plugs will provide an improvement over the non-shorting Cardas caps. Do a search for them on ebay, where I found mine. I then sold my Cardas, as they were inferior to the far cheaper plugs. As ...
Is tonearm cable the most important cable in the system ? The issue with the tonearm cable is the extremely small cartridge output voltage traveling through it. Noise pick up (no pun intended!) can be a serious problem. A shielded cable is a real good idea.
Best looking reel to reel OMG, those United reels are so ghetto! Too much bling for this white boy.
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable! I need the next higher rated Pods for my other critical sources myself, as they weigh 47lbs (CD/SACD player) and about 50 (VPI table). Same for the power amp and speakers. But the IsoAcoustic GAIA looks interesting, too. I'm in no hurry, gonna tak...
RCA Caps What ever works. But I'll wager than if non-shorting caps are beneficial, shorting caps will be even more so. In this case, the "why" is no mystery.Speaking of shorting caps and understanding them, here's a story Bill Johnson told at an instore ap...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable! Ha prof, beat ya to 'em! The set I got are rated for 8lbs. apiece, so I can try them under both my tube phono and line amps, and Townshend Rock table. If they're as good as they're supposed to be, I'll get some more---a set for the SACD player and...
RE: Finite Elements Cerabase Slimline Precision Audio Footers are Recommended Todd, another idea posted on Diament's site is chrome or nickel drawer handles, the round ones with a concave face. Bolt three of them to a plank of MDF or plywood, and put a ball bearing in each. Ten bucks oughta cover all the parts.
RCA Caps As long as you're going to put caps of some sort on your unused RCA inputs, might as well make them shorting caps. Why spend more for non-shorting Cardas' than for cheaper true-shorting caps? Seems obvious to me, a no-brainer if there ever was one!
Lee Ann Womack And I'm going to give Lee Ann's new album a listen. I may love it! By the way, she duets with one of my favorite current male artists---the great Buddy Miller, on an album of Buddy's entitled Buddy & Friends: Cayamo Sessions At Sea. It's an al...
Help! Tweaking My Lovan Rack for new Big A**ed Transrotor Turntable! Right, prof?! I wanted to find out how tall the Seismic Pods are, and neither the U.S. Townshend distributor nor any Townshend retailer could tell me. Lame! I just bought a used pair here on Audiogon---when they get to me I’ll post the Pods’ dimen...
New Magneplanar Bass Panel DWM twoch---Lower, no. The DWM doesn’t play lower than the MG3.7, or even the 1.7. But it does provide more output above the frequency at which Maggies start rolling off---40-45Hz. It’s NOT a sub, it’s a bass driver. |
