An enjoyable evening watching "Country Music Live At The Ryman" on AZ PBS.
Did y'all appreciate Marty Stuart displaying his abilities at mandolin playing, when he demonstrated how Bill Monroe played the instrument? Marty was a child, a mere 13 years of age, when he became a professional musician, hired by Lester Flatt to...
CARDAS CCGR-S BINDING POSTS FOR MAGGIE 1,7i
Like Rodman, says the fuse holder and other unnecessary parts are in series. The wires are not soldered onto the speaker cable terminals, they are soldered onto "O" rings that slip onto the back of the terminals. When you removed those terminals, ...
Robert Hunter unfortunately has died
Anyway, for anyone wanting some more Robert Hunter lyrics, they are available on the Jim Lauderdale album. A chance for Dead fans, who may not be aware of Jim, to acquaint themselves with him. He comes from Bluegrass, a music Jerry loved (I bought...
CARDAS CCGR-S BINDING POSTS FOR MAGGIE 1,7i
The Magnepan fuse holder and speaker cable terminals have ferrous parts, and replacing the stock fuse with a Supreme 3 won't cure that! Lots of guys on the Planar Speaker Asylum---hard-core Maggie owners---have bypassed the whole Magenpan hook-up ...

Pre-war (WWII) Martins, worth a small fortune. Everybody wants one, there aren't enough to go around.
Robert Hunter unfortunately has died
Wait, you guys think that was a knock on some other songwriters and singers? While Bob & Jerry can’t/couldn’t sing very well (everyone agrees about that, right?), they did write some good tunes. Dead fans are SO defensive! I’ve played "Friend ...
Robert Hunter unfortunately has died
For anyone wanting to hear some Robert Hunter lyrics put to good tunes and sung by a good singer, RH collaborated with Jim Lauderdale on the 2004 album Headed For The Hills. Not as good as some of Lauderdale's other albums, but good enough.
Whats playing on your system today?
Escape From Hollywood by The Hellecasters. They are a trio of virtuoso guitarists who play Fender Telecasters (including John Jorgenson of The Desert Rose Band), as did the man to whom the album is dedicated, the master Danny Gatton (R.I.P.). An a...
It's National "One Hit Wonder" Day!
Oh gawd yes, "Friday On My Mind" is insanely great! Another is the double-sided hit 45 by The Left Banke, "Walk Away Renee"/"Pretty Ballerina". "Money (That's What I want)" by Barrett Strong (which makes The Beatles version sound tame) is wicked. ...
Best Tubes on Market today?
RAM Labs.
It's National "One Hit Wonder" Day!
"Talk Talk" by The Music Machine. "The Witch" by The Sonics. "Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen (they had a smaller follow-up in "The Jolly Green Giant", but it is for "LL" that they are known). "Hey Little Girl" by The Syndicate Of Sound. "I Love You"...
New to classical music
Another is The Planets by Holst. Have to agree with Elizabeth, Brahms may put the op to sleep. Approach him after you have digested Beethoven and Mozart.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
@tomic601, the first version of "Willin'" I heard was on the second Seatrain album, and you know what they say about your first time. ;-). It may not be possible to do a bad version of a song that good. As Jeff Bridges' (did I get it right? ;-) ch...
Favorite cover?
While admitting I’ve never heard Grant Green’s version of "Moon River", I can’t imagine a version better than that of Henry Mancini.Regarding Dylan’s take on "The House Of The Rising Son", the reason The Animals’ pianist Alan Price is in Don’t Loo...
Ric Ocasek found dead.
Only tangentially related, before joining The Cars, drummer David Robinson was in an early-incarnation of The Modern Lovers, Jonathan Richman's wonderful backing band.
