Your Second System
I have 2 primary systems and multiple "other systems". I've posted 3 of them here (although they're a little out of date at present). My 2 primary systems are somewhat different in character, and one of them is a dual purpose (home theater and 2 c...

Atmasphere and Eldartford, great posts. When I first started dealing with noise issues in a new table rig a few years ago it would have helped me if I could have found these comments. Instead, I had to weed through the archives. The operative comm...

to answer some of the questions about my last post . . .Here's what I've learned, and implemented over the past 2 years in my effort to address hum in my analog stage: - address ground loops, one ground for the system, one wall socket, ground loop...

I know Canadian postal money orders can be cashed at US post offices. You just walk into the post office and they will hand over the cash just like it's a USPS money order (provided they have enough cash on hand) Does anyone know if this is the ca...

is the solution to noise in the analog system only new/different equipment? The noise I'm referring to isn't pops and ticks, it's hum, and it's noticeable when standing near the speaker. With the right cartridge/arm and doing my "work" to iron out...
dead quiet
not in my experience. Often I'm satisfied if I can't hear any hum from my listening position (ie when there's no music playing). Some cartridge/arm/pre configs seem to be noisier than others. None are dead quiet.
Add a subwoofer to Von Schweikert 4Srs?
I'll offer another comment reinforcing the room/placement influence. I have a pair of VR4 GenIII's (I bought them from Driver) in a dedicated multi-media room. Before I bought them I was doing research, and spoke on the phone with Albert Von Schwe...
Using two channel amps as monos?
another option is to run them in a vertical biamp arangement, if your speakers accommodate it. This would give you all of the benefits you're after - separation, and power.
Rock Siblings.....
Um . . . are we talking "siblings?"it would seem we're actually talking "progeny" in this thread.
Using two channel amps as monos?
I'm not familiar with your amps, but are you bridging them to Mono, or using one channel of each in a "stereo-mono" operating mode?I'm far from an authority on this topic, but I think it depends on the amp. Except for raw power output, many amps d...
Rock Siblings.....
I like Teddy Thompson better than Richard and/or Linda. He also got his mom to come out of retirement with a very good album.
Hobbies other than Audiophiliac?
Boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and guitar playing (which is as much about sound quality of the gear as it is about playing ability . . . for me at least)
Manu Katche
I (very) recently picked up "Playground" and really like it. I'll have to spin it a few more times before I put it in the "incredible" range though. It's definitely worth having in the collection though if you like mellow jazz especially.
Tube phono preamp help please.
I agree with the Jolida JD9a. I bought mine from the ebay seller below - it was shipped to me directly from Jolida. I haven't tried the Pro-ject, but did have the Bellari (don't recommend it), and other phono stages. I'm very happy with my Jolida....
