Rant- Ebay seller and the cost of shipping 1 cd.
report the seller to ebay. I've done this in the past. ebay has a policy that says sellers are forbidden from charging excessive shipping charges (they do this because it cheats them out of final value fees if sellers put a low sell price and high...
Selling to Canadians
I have purchased and sold quite a bit from the US. I'm Canadian and every time when it was UPS,I had to pay brokerage fees and tax at my door before they give me my package. Now when Fedex was used they just gave me the package and then later sent...
Integrated amp for Totem Sttaff
The Sttaf, although designed to work with a wide variety of electronics, tends to only sound its best when paired with tube gear and placed in small, sealed off rooms. It also requires fairly precise positioning; as most Totem's do. I owned a pair...
Using a REL Storm with a Spectrum Amp?
Mdrummer01 . . I understand. I was a little tentative the first time I connect my Storm up. 3 wires throws you when you expect 4 . . .
Using a REL Storm with a Spectrum Amp?
I have a Storm III and have connected it to several amps using the Neutrik cable. This method is much better in my experience than using RCA interconnet to pre-outs.The correct way to connect it is Red wire to the Right + terminal on your amp, Yel...
Selling to Canadians
I too have experience with insurance limits at the USPS. In my case I couldn't buy any insurance for a $100 accessory shipping Priority Mail to Vietnam. Also, in my experience with the USPS web site, though convenient and quick, what you find ther...
speaker recommendations for a 12 x 12 room?
I tried Duke's suggestion this morning . . .I have a spare bedroom with about those dimensions (actually 12x13x8) that I had set up a spare system in, just as an afterthought when my son moved out. Components are all spares not even close to your ...
wiring in series with a vertical bi-amp setup
on a tangent, but I'm not familiar with series wiring in the context of biamping. Can you explain how you would do this?
Brandi Carlile
here I am late to the party again ;-\ I heard her song "The Story" on the GM commercial during the olympics and immediately hit google. The whole album ("The Story") is a treat . . . I'm ordering her first cd now. Anyone who hasn't heard her should...
Selling to Canadians
I've never had any issues in selling to Canada. The key is to know what's involved and agree on who pays for what. Same as you would for a US deal. There's a little more effort involved sometime (is to deal with the post office forms), but that's ...
Selling to Canadians
I know there are others who can speak with more authority on your questions, but here's what I know and do:State your price and require payment in US$ - it eliminates exchange considerations for you.State in your ad or correspondence that all impo...
Achromat
this is purely my opinion/logic - if you have enough spindle height to use the 5mm, go with it, otherwise use the 3mm. If you're not using a clamp (which you shouldn't really need with the achromat) then spindle hight probably isn't an issue. Also ...
Babies and Speakers
it was so long ago my recollection is weak (my kids are now 25 and 23), but listening volume was never a problem for me when my kids were infants. In fact, my oldest son would fall asleep whenever we turned on the vacuum cleaner! The bigger issue f...
Integrated amp for Totem Sttaff
Sttafs are really nice with Tubes. I had a pair and for a while drove them on a 20w/c vintage Fisher X202. That was fun. They'd be nicer with more like 30-40 w Tube amps. The again, they're really nice with SS amps too . . .
Modded gear on the used market.
It is worth less IMO.I somewhat agree, but it depends on the reputation of the "Mod'er". In many cases sellers can and do command a healthy premiums. eg Steve McCormick's mods on the DNA amps.If the mod was done by someone totally without credenti...
