B&K preamp/tuners.....
I have several B&K components, including a AVP3090 Pre/Pro. I love it. Rock solid build, sounds great in Stereo passthrough as well as 5.1 (DD and DTS). Customer Service at B&K is also fantastic. It doesn't have a tuner, so I can't comment...
Dead Can Dance's Into the Labyrinth
I've bought no less than 6 new CD's as a result of this thread. All of them good. One of them I picked up is my favorite of the bunch - it's Lisa Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy: "Immortal Memory". I picked it up somewhat accidentally while surfing Am...
Album which you have listened to most?
this is a tough one. If we're talking about the records in my collection that have been played the most (ie since I first started playing them in the 70's), here's the top 3: o Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn o Genesis - Lamb Lies Down o Boz Scaggs (his ...
Best Neil Young Album?
Harvest, then After the Gold Rush are my favorites.
Spica TC-50/REL Strata II vs. GMA Europa?
I'm not familiar with the Spica's, but I'm confused by your comparison of either adding a Rel sub, or trading the Spica's for the Europas. If it's bass you want, you won't get it with the Europas. If however you want a rock speaker the Europas wor...

What are we listening to tonight?
Crossroads Guitar Festival - in theater #2.
Spanish Guitar
good call by Quadophile . . . "Friday night in San Francisco" by Delucia, Dimeola and McLaughlin has been mentioned in other Guitar threads here. I finally picked up a copy. It won't disappoint. The first cut will blew me away in the first minute,...

Contour option on Rotel RC-1070 preamp
I use to have this preamp. I recall trying the contour only once or twice, noticed some, but not a great amount of difference. I always left it in flat position when playing though. Someone else may be a more credible source on your question about...
ebay vs audiogon
I've done over 100 deals on ebay, and only 5 (so far) on A'gon, mostly because I didn't find out about audiogon sooner. I've had good experience with ebay, but you really do need to be careful what you're bidding on and who you're dealing with. Th...
Top "covers"
Cowboy Junkies have done covers of many artists, with results I think are better than the original. There was a gime cd included with their most recent release. It's called 'neath your covers" my favorite tracks:#1) Thunder Road (Springsteen)#4) D...
Why do they always play so loud in hifi showrooms?
interesting . . . but in my experience (which is actually limited) with my local hi end audio store, they don't usually turn it up loud enough. I invariably have to ask them for more volume.
What music do you want to play really loud?
I agree with Sean, I think all music has it's own best volume level. I differ from Tvad however on Josh Grohban - play him loud, so the walls shake.
Spanish Guitar
how about Alex Fox? I didn't see him listed above, and since I only have one cd by him I'm not sure he's purely Spanish guitar. I would describe him as more "nuveau" spanish guitar. The cd I have is "Personality". It's worth a listen. It also has ...
