What's your favorite lyric from a song? on the lighter side . . ."See the little faggot with the earing and the makeupYeah buddy that's his own hairThat little faggot got his own jet airplaneThat little faggot he's a millionaire" from Dire Straits - "Money for Nothing"and more serious ....
Help Low Freq. From Totems? Is it there? I have a pair of Sttafs - I'm not sure if these are the ones you say you're familiar with. The bass is quite good for most music - probably 85% of what I listen to. But for some Rock music I find the lack of extreme deep bass a little wanting. I'v...
Problem with line noise from Phono preamp Hifimaniac had the solution. I knew enough to make sure the tone arm ground was secure, but since there's no obvious place to ground the phone pre chassis to the B&K, it just didn't occur to me to ground it. I also assumed that the phono chass...
Eerie, Ethereal, Moody, Involving Soundtracks hey Rx8man I think I have lots of these, though they're not sound tracks, they are concept albums. There are some good ones mentioned already above, but also try some Mike Oldfield. His best is "Ommadawn" (not Tubular Bells). Also try "Songs of Di...
van morrison's best sounding album? I like Moondance and St Dominick's Preview the best. I agree with Panderso - Moondance is the most accessible. I also like Avalon Sunset (except for the first track) . . . and I think it's the best produced of the albums I'm familiar with. I'm per...
Why even bother? this has been a great discussion. Misterl, I don't think an apology is necessary . . . provocative statements are often the best way. I learned a lot from most of the posts.
Why even bother? Misterl, given that criteria - I agree with you. I don't understand the technical benefits of a state of the art tuner, but my money would go into other parts of the system or the room, and I would probably stick with my Kenwood receiver as a tune...
Why even bother? I agree with Muzikrat. IF I lived in a town with with a good college radio station I may have a decent tuner. But I don't so I don't. With the stations I can get, I hear far to much of them while I'm in the car. I have a cheap Kenwood receiver $10...
What concert or music DVD's are worth having? I just started collecting this year after setting up my first home theater. Here's the concerts I have and like. Obviously it's gonna depend as much on your taste in music and bands, but the shows in the "best" group are all excellent. I have a co...
Who has the oldest speakers? I have a pair of Wharfedale W45's - vintage 1971 - I'm the original owner - my first speakers (they sounded horrible, but great cabinets, so I rebuilt them with better drivers, crossover 3 years ago). I also still have my second pair of Speakers -...
Two different brand amp in the same setup 5.1? I'm running a B&K tx4430 for the front (L, C, R), and a Parasound HCA1000A for the rears. It's quite nice, and it's nicer than when I was running a 5 channel B&K AV5125; and also nicer than when I was running a Parasound HCA1203a for the f...
Best drink while listening to your rig? Crown Royal; Grey Goose; Kardhu 16 yr single malt - on the rocks, but one at a time, not together
Who makes a "true" Transmission Line speaker?... This may be irrelevant because They are so old, and apparently scarce . . . I have a pair of Infinity Monitor IIa speakers that I bought in 1974/5. They are described in the user manual as Transmission line and go on to elaborate on the spec's (ie...
Neil Young Song "Let's Roll" where can I find It? get a grip! this discussion probably belongs on one of those other sites you reference . . .
Traditional looking speakers Totem's are pretty traditional looking. Cabinets are excellent, the sound great, and are pretty compact. I think the Hawks are in that range |
