Best temperature for optimum tube performance
My three ARC amps (NOT TUBES) each have 32 output transistors and 3 cooling fans each.  So, 96 output transistors and nine cooling fans.  If I run them really hard for say an hour their temp never goes over 100 F.  Yes, I measure them with a BBQ p...
Wow, $10k+ cables
@jetter Thanks for the reply.  I as well thought they were benign.  But, there are many posts which I think are legit questions and they are met with slings and arrows.  In fact, I was simply trying to inject a little humor into this all to seriou...

I'm not a cable denier.  I've heard quite amazing differences in imaging from interconnects.  Not so much from power cords, still I can't say they don't exist.Every time a thread like this shows up I can't help but think what type of cabling is us...
Audio Lessons Learned - post your best advice for the newer members!
After puzzling out your budget and much reading and listening buy the best foundation pieces your budget allows (speakers, amp, pre-amp).Buy them as if you're married to them ('cause you are).  Purchase a source component(s).  These will undoubted...
Acoustic treatment question: do you agree with Dennis Foley that $46k to $65k is required?
I have watched maybe 10 of his vids.  It was worth the time and provided food for thought.  But he completely lost me when in the last one I watched he went off on the "industry" selling extremely harmful substances like fiberglass and Roksul.  He...
What speakers are shown in the movie The Counselor?
Lara Croft Tomb Raider has this TT playing as she does the bungee ballet.  I sort of doubt that the producers paid a fee to have this on the set for a very very short time.https://www.pinterest.com/pin/296604325461527243/ClearaudioRegards,barts
Strange buzz issue!
@hshifiBoth of these pieces are solid state. To the OP, please ensure that ground wire between the two is a real good metal to metal contact.  Also you might try shorting out any unused RCA inputs, take that cheap interconnect you have layin' aroun...
Ok to adjust balance to achieve center vocal image?
The OP states that he has a "left leaning" vocal image.  Is everything leaning left or just the vocals?  My experience is that many recordings have the vocal image where it should be in space which is not necessarily dead center.Second question is...

Stereo systems are like Harleys
@wolf_garcia Have been to Marcus Dairy quite a number of times on a Heritage Softail (carbureted). That's an old pleasant memory.  Tried riding the '76 shovelhead rigid chopper up there one time...too much pain, seems I waited too long and tried t...
Why so many angry audiophiles?
+1 mapmanI for one have not posted a question on this forum simply because I didn'twant to read the inevitable responses from those in attack mode.  But, it is not a constant it ebbs and flows.  I will certainly post again as I do enjoy the intera...
Mistakes I’ve made
The flip side is while overseas I bought quite a bit of "very good" stereo equipment, but had yet to receive it as part of rotating back to the states.Still have some of it. And yes almost 50 years later it still sounds excellent.
