Cartridge Suggestion Requested @vair68robertmy my tonearm is 10.1g effective mass (VPI gimbal) I had a few Grados but they were decidedly not neutral.@argon66 thought about the zephyr star, will it sound good loaded at either 100 ohms or 1000 ohms? if not i would need to ...
Cartridge Suggestion Requested ortofon quintet black or dynavector 17d3 have the neutral , uncolored sound of the 2M black?
Cartridge Suggestion Requested @gshepardbuster Is the sound of the Cadenza similar to the 2M black, which I would call neutral and detailed?
Cartridge Suggestion Requested thanks to all responses so far, i'll try to make it easier.looking for a cartridge with similar "voicing" and frequency balance as the Ortofon 2M black but with a more refined sound. For any that have heard the 2M black and moved on to a similar bu...
Dynavector 20x2 vs Audio Technica ART-9. I own both cartridges and bought the ART9 not quite a year ago seeking an upgrade to the DV20X2L. I wanted something more transparent (like the Ortofon 2M Black, which I like but it has other issues) yet maintaining the Dynamics of the Dynavector...
Spendor, Harbeth...why so hot ? @prof i would challenge your setup- speaker positioning and listening position. when positioned properly the SHL5s have amazing stage depth and disappear completely. they need to be 4-5 feet from the wall and you should listen nearfield in an eq...
KEF R700 Opinions please Listened to them many times and wanted to love them because they look great and have really good bass. I do love the KEF LS50s but the R700s are not voiced in the same way. The R700s have a smooth sound but the midrange is not open, transparent ...

Amp choice for Harbeth (SHL5) Third for the Vinnie Rossie Lio. Heard it on Harbeth 3 years in a row at AXPONA. This year with the SHL5+. Tube linestage and capacitor store design isolates it from the AC grid. Noise floor is unheard of and dynamics are incredible. Stereoph...
Intigrated Amp Dilemma use the halo as a preamp to drive the parasound a21. it stays in class A mode much longer than the hint.
Looking for input: Best material for mid range cone the most transparent midrange drivers i have heard are made of aluminum. but their properties usually need one incredible crossover to tame the break up distortion and rapidly rising response. see the joseph audio speakers with infinite slope c...
Dynavector DV20X2L Question have you read the AT ART9 thread? i had / have the DV20X2L and the ART9 sounds better.
Stay away from the nad "blue cap" C272 and it is a very nice sounding solid state amp with gobs of power and dynamics, never a glitch.c356 year and a half and no issues except the power led flickers. not happy with the sound of the C356 though.
If bi-amping is so great, why do some high end speakers not support it? bi-amping can be great but it depends on the application. there really are not many disadvantages for speaker makers except the slight expense to add the additional wiring, binding posts and jumpers. the advantages are the ability to have a mor... |
