Kef LS50 - can it handle a subwoofer properly? yes. no processing or crossovers needed- just a sub with the right connections and adjustments. KEF LS50- perfectly flat response through the bass region-http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/how-to-perfect-subwoofer-integration.490198/
Good Monitors with NAD C356 (for now) I have the C356 and it is not in service. My recommendation with your budget is to buy a rogue audio cronus magnum ii and some KEF LS50s.this combination will sound far better than any speakers (e.g. Harbeth C7ES) you could ever add to the NAD.
subwoofer to speaker connection Successful sub integration is an extremely misunderstood topic. By far the best way to integrate them is to install some RTA software on your computer (room eq wizzard, true rta) get a decent microphone and a test CD with uncorrelated Pink Noise- ...
Best speakers under $500? Fire away! Elac UB5. Slam dunk.
Best Record You Have Ever heard A new acquisition that leap-frogged all the rest is Dire Straits "On Every Street". Previous champs included Joni Mitchell "Court and Spark", Alan Parsons Project "Turn of a Friendly Card" and Dire Straits "Love Over Gold". Honorable mention- Li...
Have you ever tried a pair of speakers and said this Is the last thing I will ever need. Interestingly enough the first time I "tried" the speakers I now own I did not care for them. They were slow, bloated and lacked dynamics. Most likely the amplifier used was not a good match.Fast forward a couple years and the Harbeth C7ES3 are ...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? Looking for a digital solution that won't drop the sound quality drastically from my vinyl setup but listening to the LPs last night I am simply mesmerized by the sound quality- the soundstage, the flow of the music, the character of the sound. I...
I've decided to try Tubes first of all, congratulations for taking the leap. i have had all tubes for about a year an a half and will never go back to solid state. the spacious open sound and huge sound stage are something i can never give up. i have put solid state amp...
When and how did you, if at all, realize vinyl is better? For dedicated focused listening I prefer vinyl 90% of the time compared to CD/digital. My vinyl setup is over 3X the cost of the digital equipment although my player and DAC are no slouches either- e.g. Marantz SA8005 player. I just don't bel...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... My Soundsmith re-tipped Dynavector 20X2L (nude contact line stylus with ruby cantilever) gives the ART9 a serious run for the money and is slightly more dynamic but not quite as clean / smooth on all recordings. I can see where some Soundsmith car...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... I also like the fact that it is a little too careful and polite compared to some cartridges that like to manufacture air and sparkle that isn't on the recording. I hear it as adding to the realism factor, not detracting from it. It gives the ART...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... No pro reviews means that nobody is sensing them any review samples, not some big conspiracy against value products offending the big spenders. I have had dialogue with Michael Fremer about cartridge reviews and he will review a given cartridge as...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... FYI the virus is spreading.....! :)Still really liking this cart and ~50 hrs now and seems to have stabilizedhttp://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/audio-technica-art9-mc-cartridge-the-real-deal.634160/
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... some interesting frequency response plots for some of the cartridges in question. The cadenza red is the flattest of the bunch. FYI my ART9 came with a FR printout and it was flat and had low harmonic distortion. https://www.artsexcellence.com...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ... @pani thank you for the phono preamp recommendations. i may consider one at a later date but the Black Cube SE II is getting the job done for me- for now my tube integrated amplifier adds all the color I need. i did try loading the ART9 with 47K... |
